While there is more work to be done, we welcome #Budget2024 commitments that move the dial forward on competition and the right to repair, skills and labour, and tackling the issue of auto theft. Importantly, 83% of Canadians agree that vehicle manufacturers should be required by law to share necessary data so they can get their car fixed at the shop of their choice. To be clear, this is data that is necessary solely for the purposes of diagnosis, maintenance and repair, and must be shared in a secure way that is accessible and at a reasonable price. We are pleased to see budget language amplify ongoing legislative action, building on progress made via Bill C-244 and Bill C-59, and we remain hopeful that legislators will adopt recommendations we have put forward to strengthen the Competition Act and consumer protection as a part of the legislative process. We have also noted the continued promise of right to repair action and a commitment to explore whether there is a need for further federal legislative changes to support right to repair. While the federal government has called on provinces and territories to target their own complementary legislative measures, following in the footsteps of Quebec, a national solution will be needed in order to avoid a patchwork system across the country. While any action on the right to repair is welcome, it is imperative that parliamentarians include vehicles as a part of this work. Too narrow of a focus will not address the challenges Canadians and independent automotive repair shops continue to face. Left unaddressed, consumers will have to pay more, travel further and wait longer for their cars to be serviced. We look forward to continuing our work with government to ensure Canadians can enjoy the benefit of having access to reliable, essential and affordable vehicle service and repair. 👉 Can you do your own cost segregation study? While that's a great question, the answer is: ❌ No. Please don't try to do your own cost segregation study! Only an experienced team of licensed engineers and accountants are qualified to analyze a building’s depreciating subcomponents (such as lighting fixtures, heating and air conditioning systems, and other components that deteriorate over time). When it comes to taxes, I'm about helping you save, but I want to ensure you do it properly. The last thing you want is for the IRS to come in and audit you, and then find out you reported something incorrectly. Are you curious to know how much a cost segregation study could save you on taxes? My team can help! Just go to: https://lnkd.in/e2wNU2J9. Fill out the form, and we'll provide you with a free evaluation. 👏 #construction #realestate #taxes #future #success
