I'm thrilled to share that my company, Periculum, has been selected as one of the 42 start-ups from 31 African countries for the prestigious UNDP Africa timbuktoo Africa Fintech Accelerator Program. This honor, chosen from over 800 start-ups across 47 African nations, reaffirms our vision for the African market and the impactful strides we are making.
This past week, we embarked on an incredible journey at the boot camp in Lagos, the Fintech Capital of Africa. Engaging with key stakeholders driving the timbuktoo Africa program was truly inspiring. I had the distinct privilege of meeting and interacting with esteemed leaders such as former Vice President of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, Ahunna Eziakonwa, the Assistant Secretary-General at the United Nations and Director of the Regional Bureau for Africa, Anna Ekeledo, Executive Director of Afrilabs, and Natalie Paida Jabangwe, MBA DIC, CEO of the Timbuktoo Foundation.
One of the most enriching aspects of the boot camp was connecting with a brilliant cohort of innovators from 31 African countries, all dedicated to solving Africa’s challenges through innovation. The experience was profoundly immersive, particularly as I used a translator for the first time to communicate with French and Portuguese-speaking colleagues.
I also had the pleasure of engaging with Ola Brown, MFR, Founder of Healthcap Africa, in a fireside chat discussing innovation and funding in the health and fintech sectors. This conversation provided deep insights into the intersection of health and financial technology, opening new avenues for collaboration and growth.
As we continue our boot camp virtually over the next three weeks, I eagerly look forward to deeper collaborations and extending Periculum’s reach into over 10 additional countries across the African continent in the coming weeks.
Stay tuned for more updates as we drive innovation and growth across Africa! 🌍🚀
