Recently, we heard from business owners doing billions in sales with small infrastructures like ours. It was inspiring and eye opening. And all we had to do is go to a conference, meet people, and listen. Here's why attending conferences is part of our growth strategy: ✅ New insights Meeting industry leaders showed us fresh paths, especially in international business. The insights we learned could help us navigate our new operations in Mexico and prepare us for when we set our sights on Europe and Asia. ✅ Invaluable connections Surrounding ourselves with like-minded, strong entrepreneurs helps us dream bigger. In 2015 I went to 4 conferences + mastermind, I spoke in 4 events. Bangkok, Singapore, China and London. I also did over 15 interviews in podcasts . My photo was in the poster, I spoke, people clapped, I went out, got drunk, people told me I was "crushing it" and I collected a lot of contacts... I also heard a lot of mediocre speakers - we were all mediocre. It's just an ego-orgy that's all. I spend over 20K in tickets, traveling, hotels, getting drunk.... dinners, "networking" ... partying ... did I mention I got drunk? I met leaders in the industry ... "the people" to follow... the #1 podcaster in the world! the #1 membership guru in the world... the #1 "passive income guru" and the #1 productivity ninja in the world.... I even spoke in the same event as Google .... All those gurus like me back then , were full of cr*p the Return on investment of those conferences? Zero. What I learned I could have learned reading 1 book and putting that book in practice. 2 years ago I started a biz under $500 and I recover what I spend in those conferences x 10. No posters, I didn't made it public, no partying, no "networking" , not "exchange of ideas... I just went quiet and surprise surprise I did the work. But Gab could you have done it without the conferences? yes. But what about the "secrets"? Zero secrets. But what about the "connections" ??? Not worth it. What about the Russian strippers in Singapore Gab or dancing with little people with an Irish pub in Manila ??? .... mmm okay , may be that part was a bit worth it. But in fairness... The people that I admire the most are in their office working, at home writing, not talking about "the state of the industry" or "what the future holds" Want to crush it: go boring mode. Go quiet mode. Do the work. Over and and over, until you are so boring, nobody want you to speak at any event.

I think this post will get me a lot of heat, but i'm sharing to try and make things move forward. You want your Polish business to go global? Start forgetting you are a Polish business. Stop going to events, that are only in Polish, and only have Polish speakers. Don't only learn from successful Polish businesses. I spent the last few days at the Carpathian Startup Festival. During the event was a lot of conversations, topics, panels, about 'How to go global'. Especially, why is Poland not doing this more. The event was talking about the CEE region a lot, and what we can learn from each other. The irony? 90% of these discussions were in Polish, discussed between Polish people. I attended Infoshare this year, when the entire 2 day marketing stage was in Polish language, hearing talks from Polish speakers. Now, i'm not against growing a business in Poland. We have some amazing examples of businesses that grew inside the Polish economy. I'm also not blaming our amazing Polish speakers. They give up their free time to share their knowledge with you. However they can only bring you insights from how they run their business. They can't x10 their stories in a year. But this is why Poland doesn't have more internationally recognized brands, when we are mostly only learning from each other. Events like Carpathian Festival, Infoshare, and others. They have the scale and prestige to attract world wide talent and knowledge to your events. Knowledge the Polish system most drastically needs. I love Marketing International last year was a great example of fresh, new perspectives and the content was fantastic. My advice if I was a Polish founder today thinking of building a global business. Go to as many events outside of Poland as you can, until we have more here. My advice to our Polish events, I promise you, you can get great international speakers from outside Poland and it will not break the bank. It's a shame just now, that I know I need to fly to London, Helsinki, San Francisco or New York to get the knowledge I need to drive TRAFFIT forward. I am sure we could get that talent to come to Poland.
