Do you like Viagra? Some years back I was with a pharmaceutical sales rep who was bragging about his month. Golf, fishing, hunting was the common theme and there was lots of it. Not a whole lot of work. At one point I said “Does it ever make you nervous that you don’t do much actual work?” He said “Dude…I’ve got Viagra. It sells itself.” I never forgot that interaction. Not because I wanted Viagra but because it got my brain juices flowing. Many companies have a superior product. Many have superior service. Many have superior sales people. Very few have all of the above. If you are just starting in sales let me give you a piece of advice. Try to align yourself with a company that checks these boxes. Imagine how successful you can be when you have the product, support and drive. As a company, don’t just stop at a great product. Find great people and then give them the support they need. Watch that growth!
