#ICYMI: Last week, we launched the first utility-scale wind generation facility in Mississippi: AES' Delta Wind Project. We celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony filled with faces of hope, enthusiasm and commitment toward a sustainable future! The 184 MW facility provides reliable, renewable energy to Amazon to power its facilities and operations. It also features some of the tallest wind turbines of any onshore wind project in the US at a tip height of 692 feet. Beyond clean energy, the Delta Wind Project signifies a wave of economic revitalization—creating jobs, boosting tax revenue and enabling continued agricultural prosperity beneath its turbines .  It was an honor to share this milestone with state representatives, Tunica County leadership, esteemed project stakeholders, including our partners at Amazon, and, most importantly, the vibrant community of Tunica County.  Many thanks to Terrance Unrein, Cali Campbell, MS, PE, Michael Berg, Jimmy Fleenor, P.E., Juan del Cid, Tyree Nesbit, Sarah Sawyer, Kenny Van Ballegooyen, Cory Blair, Jace Jones, Josephine Navatovu, Daniel Winer and the many other AES team members and project partners. 🌱It's been a year since the dedicated team at Penonomé Wind Farm, spearheaded by our Environmental, Health, Safety and Security (EHS&S), O&M, and General Services teams, along with environmental specialists from PROTECMA, embarked on an ambitious Biodiversity Conservation Program aimed at protecting and nurturing our local iguana population. 🦎Last month, a landmark moment unfolded at the Penonomé Wind Farm: the release of the first 100 iguanas, part of a significant and strategic release schedule informed by our in-depth biodiversity studies. Miguel Bolinaga, Market Business Leader of AES Panamá said, "Our conservation efforts at the Wind Farm reflect our unwavering dedication to environmental responsibility and sustainable practices. By educating, creating safe havens, and reintroducing iguanas back into their natural habitat, we're fostering a symbiotic relationship between wildlife, our team, and the community. Today AES Chief Technology & Innovation Officer Ashley Smith and AES Chief Information & Digital Officer David Orr took to the stage at Edison Electric Institute to talk about how AI is both transforming the workplace and the work.
