UX Research is a role that teachers (especially Special Education teachers) can easily transition into. Why? Because teachers have lots of transferable skills that map directly to user research. Studying student behaviors, analyzing data and trends, facilitating sessions, advocating for users, empathizing with users, writing detailed reports, communicating to stakeholders (i.e. admin) about user needs…the list goes on. 𝗜 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗹𝘂𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗼𝗻 #education. Here are some pitfalls that can be solved thanks to an accessible #design approach. 🔸 𝘜𝘴𝘦𝘳-𝘶𝘯𝘧𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴 The level of accessibility improves the usability of a website or application. Features such as clear navigation and intuitive design benefit all users, promote satisfaction, and make it easier to interact with products and services. 🔸 𝘔𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘮𝘢𝘭 𝘶𝘴𝘦𝘳 𝘣𝘢𝘴𝘦 When your platform becomes available, it attracts a wider audience of users because people with a variety of backgrounds and usage options can utilize it. This helps expand the reach and customer base of your product. 🔸 𝘋𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘳 𝘰𝘶𝘵𝘥𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘶𝘴𝘦𝘳 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘢𝘤𝘦 Activating additional functionality in your designs will improve the user experience, including both those with feature limitations and those without. This will make interaction with your platform more convenient and accessible to all. 🔸 𝘈𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘺𝘻𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘥𝘪𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘴 𝘪𝘴 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘪𝘯 𝘧𝘢𝘷𝘰𝘳 𝘰𝘧 𝘦𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘴 Students compare the apps and platforms they see in the classroom not only to similar products at school, but also to non-educational apps and platforms that often seem more interesting in comparison. 🔸 𝘓𝘢𝘤𝘬 𝘰𝘧 𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘭𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘵𝘺 Accessibility promotes a more inclusive society and prevents discrimination against people with special needs. Everyone deserves equal opportunities to access information, services and social goods. You can read more about it here https://lnkd.in/e78VTFSn #edtech #elearning #UI #UX

After years of sessions on UX and now with Gen Z students, I have come to the realisation that classes with a singular scope of one-sided knowledge sharing are as good as cooking 'vegetable pulao' and calling it 'biryani'. Classes, particularly those that start early in the semester, should switch between information-sharing and activity-based learning strategies. This implies that students must see a definitive purpose for attending classes beyond the hard facts. Students' curiosity is piqued when context-driven discussions are facilitated, which has proven to be extremely advantageous. In my User Experience classes, I normally start with an activity that is essentially a reversed classroom, which allows the students to learn while they do. This, in my opinion, enables a lecturer to begin a class on a good note and enables students to independently identify problem statements that are essential to the course's objectives. This leads to robust debates that broaden the scope of the course. The picture shows a design sprint where students performed heuristic analysis on popular UPI apps.
