Happy World Environment Day! Today, we celebrate the beauty and wonder of our planet, but also remind ourselves of the urgent need to protect and preserve it. The environment is not just a backdrop to our lives, it’s the very foundation of our existence, health, and prosperity. We all have a role to play in safeguarding our environment. Every action, no matter how small, can make a difference. The Natural Capital Laboratory (NCL) Project is an innovative initiative that’s making strides in environmental conservation. Working with the Lifescape Project, University of Cumbria, and Roger Leese & Emilia Leese Ⓥ🌱, the NCL is a living laboratory set in the Scottish Highlands, is a live environment for identifying, quantifying and valuing the impacts of rewilding 100 acres in the Highlands. At the visit to the NCL last week, the team presented to the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM) about techniques for biodiversity monitoring, carbon modelling, species reintroduction and other exciting work that's been going on in the Lab over the past few years. The insights gained from the NCL Project are helping to shape sustainable practices and policies, ensuring that we can continue to enjoy the benefits of our natural world while minimizing our impact on it. Find out more about the NCL Project here: https://lnkd.in/e8jyjfDF This World Environment Day, let’s pledge to take action for our environment. Because the best time to act for the environment was yesterday, the next best time is now. #WorldEnvironmentDay #NaturePositive #PeatlandRestoration #SustainableLegacies #Rewilding

1moIt's inspiring to see such collaboration across organizations and experts, pioneering in areas like biodiversity monitoring and carbon modelling. This project not only helps preserve the natural beauty of the Scottish Highlands but also serves as a model for global conservation efforts. Every step taken towards environmental protection is a step towards securing a sustainable future for all.
