Working with management teams considering or preparing for PE investment we encounter a lot of negative preconceptions about life with a PE partner. Many smaller churches are expressing an interest in partnering or merging with larger churches to thrive in a season of decreasing membership or giving. There is also typically, a fair amount of pushback from those within the two congregations. After all, the churches will need to agree on a very long list of issues and churches typically aren't the best at that ;) The more people involved, the harder mergers become.
