Did you know that many seniors are struggling to put food on the table and, even more heartbreakingly, feeling lonely and isolated? It's time for us to come together as a community and make a difference! ADVOCAP works closely with organizations like Meals on Wheels and GWAAR (Greater Wisconsin Agency on Aging Resources) in Winnebago County to ensure the seniors in our community have the resources they need to live a dignified and healthy life. This year's March for Meals celebration comes at a time when eight out of ten local Meals on Wheels programs are still delivering meals to more older adults than they were prior to the pandemic, and operational and food costs are still soaring even while inflation slows. HOW YOU CAN HELP · Spread the word! Share this post, to raise awareness. · Volunteer at local senior centers or meal programs. · Donate non-perishable good to food banks. · Spend time with seniors - your companionship matters. A small act of kindness can make a huge difference in someone's life. Let's be the change we want to see. Contact ADVOCAP to find out how you can make a difference in the lives of our seniors. https://lnkd.in/gfd-_q2r #CommunityActionWorks #MealsOnWheels #SeniorSupport

What would it take for all of us to age without worry? For three years in a row, more older Americans are living in poverty, according to the latest Census data. It’s possible you may have asked yourself: ❓Will Social Security be enough to help me in retirement? ❓Should I buy food OR pay for this prescription? ❓Is Medicare enough to pay for my health care? ❓Will my children have access to any of these important programs in the future? When you donate to NCOA, we put your gift to work to ensure you never have to ask these questions again. Our resources, tools, and advocacy empowers people to age with dignity and independence. Last year alone, NCOA improved the health and financial security of 2.3 million Americans. But millions more are struggling and we can only reach them with your support. You still have time to make a difference. Your ONE small act could turn doubt into hope. Give to NCOA by December 31 and know your generosity changed lives. https://lnkd.in/eC3ffp2a

It’s shocking to read that ‘Around 2.8 million older households in England will be living in fuel poverty’ (Age UK 2022) For thousands of older people the cold kills. We can’t solve the problem of fuel poverty but we can help heat the person, when they can’t afford to heat their home. As we approach Christmas, many companies think about how they can help their community. This #FuelPovertyAwarenessDay we are asking you and your company to help us fill 2,000 Warm in Winter gift bags, costing £70,000. We’ve seen a huge increase in demand for our gift bags that contain essential items to help older people keep warm including fleece blankets, thermal socks, hats and gloves, hot drinks, soup and porridge. Since September this year, we’ve already filled and distributed more than 10,000 of these gift bags to older people who are struggling to keep warm in their homes. We now need your help to fill a further 2,000 bags to meet the ever increasing demand. This year in the run up to Christmas and the New Year we are asking you and your company to help us fill these bags. Each Warm in Winter gift bag costs £35 and is the perfect way to help the most vulnerable older people in our community. To donate please visit https://lnkd.in/dYemDcet Together, we can make a difference to someone’s life, one small act of kindness at a time. 1.6 Million New Yorkers are currently experiencing #foodinsecurity including 1 in 4 children. When developing children are undernourished and have limited access to adequate food, it can lead to higher risks of negative mental and physical health outcomes. Ways you can get involved today to help fight hunger: 1. Spread the word – tell people about the issue of food insecurity and mention how #NYCP assists those in the community in need 2. Volunteer – come and see us in action! You can organize a group of friends or coworkers, or volunteer yourself. 3. Consider making a donation – we purchase nearly 70% of the food we distribute and the need continues to increase. 4. Start a drive – throughout the year we collect food and other goods which we utilize to make our Pantry packages. Visit our website: nycommonpantry.org for more information on how to get involved. #hungeractionmonth #giveback #volunteer #foodsecurity #foodaccess

Did you know that most government programs (i.e. WIC) do not support the purchase of diapers? Diaper Need Awareness Week is September 18 - 24 and I am so proud of Hello Bello for helping draw attention to this important issue. Learn more by visiting https://lnkd.in/etMkFnin.
Diaper need directly contributes to the cycle of poverty in the U.S. and it’s a preventable problem. While diapers are just as vital for health and well-being as food and health care, most government support systems do not cover this expense. It’s time to change that. September 18-24 is National Diaper Need Awareness Week, and this year Hello Bello is committing to fight to end this public health crisis. We’ve donated over 6 million diapers since our launch in 2019, and while we’re committed to continuing our charitable efforts, we know the only sustainable solution to the problem is policy change. Please join us in fighting for change here: https://lnkd.in/gBmKy4X5. You can sign our petition, nominate a family in need for a year's supply of diapers, donate to the cause and so much more! Every action, big or small, makes an impact. Together, we can help end diaper need. #hellobello #diaperneedawarenessweek #enddiaperneed

Families receiving diapers from Little Essentials were interviewed as part of a larger, national study of the economic impact of diaper banks. The study found that when families receive diapers, more families are able to work or attend school, health care spending is reduced, and children are healthier. Little Essentials provides diapers at no cost to families experiencing diaper need: the inability to provide a sufficient supply of diapers to keep a baby clean, dry, and healthy. According to The NDBN Diaper Check 2023, 1 in 2 families struggles to afford diapers. With the help of our donors we can help families achieve self-sufficiency.
