One of the most significant concerns I have found in organizations is individuals working FOR identity instead of FROM identity. We operate from identity, not for it. As leaders, teaching, encouraging, and exemplifying this principle is crucial. It leads to empowering individuals rather than encouraging unhealthy performance, which is essential for team building and organizational health. Empower! Organizing Meetings Around Questions Instead of Topics, by Admired Leadership. "A simple way to promote more discussion and to get people excited and ready to contribute is to cast each topic or issue as a question. Questions demand an answer. As such, they promote thinking as soon as they are read or heard...The best agenda questions pose a challenge, presume an end state, or suggest a root cause. I believe sometimes we make a mistake – we give folks perks, but we forget to explain why. It's like having a plan but not telling anyone the plan. To build a team with purpose, we need to not just give goodies but also share why they matter and how they fit into our goals. Communication is key.
