I am in my final semester of my M.S. in Digital Marketing and Design degree at Aurora University and this semester I was faced with a daunting task — “create a cohesive, in-depth marketing portfolio and resume that you can use to market yourself”. I couldn't help but wonder, how do I build a portfolio when I am just taking my first steps into a brand new career? How do I showcase my passion and skills when I'm still finding my path in life? And right now, I am not just a graduate student. I have been juggling my education, internships, and small marketing projects all while raising two great kids, who often make appearances on Zoom sessions or decide to tell you a story about a monster truck on a business call. Here I am, staying at home and enriching the lives of my family members while relentlessly pursuing a career that I love. So, I set out to craft a brand story on my marketing portfolio that resonates with the dreamers and doers of our community. I wanted to let everyone know that, like them, I am starting my marketing journey at “the trailhead”. I might be new to this path, but I am ready to ascend those marketing mountains alongside the underdogs, the mom-and-pop shops, and the business owners who are doing it all for their families. My hope is that this message echoes throughout my marketing portfolio — a testament to my dedication to supporting and empowering small businesses. I believe that by joining forces we can move mountains, overcome challenges, and build something truly extraordinary. I am thrilled to showcase the final result of this journey. My portfolio was built from two years of waking up before the kids and staying up late long after their asleep. It’s a story of giving up my weekends with my family for writing papers, designing projects, and responding to discussion posts. It’s a breakdown of the hard work, passion, and a deep-rooted belief in the potential of every small business out there. I hope that you will visit my portfolio and embark on this adventure with me! 💫 This week, we were part of the “Talent Day Media + IT” which attracted more than 500 students and allowed them to get to know Deep Media as well as more than 30 other companies in and around Hamburg. 🎓 During the day, we welcomed a total of 19 high school students in our Hamburg office. Since Deep Media values knowledge and education, we were happy to support young people in their professional orientation! This day enabled the participants to get an impression of our company and the marketing industry overall within a short amount of time. 📝 Over the course of the day, we shared insights about our company and our work, some of our dual students and trainees talked about their educational experiences and we introduced the participants to relevant digital marketing basics. 💪🏼 After having gained some theoretical knowledge, the participants were later able to work on a small marketing task themselves: developing an employer branding campaign which they presented to us afterwards. By doing so, they gained even deeper insights into the topics of marketing, media and our daily work. Everyone mastered the task very well and enjoyed working on it. 💡 This experience and the conversations we had allowed for us to get a better understanding of the participants as well: We were able to get valuable insights on their perspectives and needs, so in the future we will be even better prepared when encountering students and young professionals in recruiting settings. #deepmedia #digitalmarketing #talentday #media #hamburg #youngtalents

Entering awards is a brilliant way to get away from the office and meet local businesses whilst strengthening your brand image. Awards typically happen throughout the year, with the majority in Q4. Now is your time to plant the seeds for winning some awards in 2024. It is time to shout from the rooftops all the great things you are doing within your industry. It is a great idea to map out when your relevant awards are held, find out which awards you qualify for, or what you need to do in order to win them! Then you need to spend time on the entry. Remember, it is not always about the winning. It is a great exercise to showcase your business, build trust and gain some external PR.
