We had the great pleasure of having Jessica Watson, the first girl who sailed across the world by herself, at our leadership meeting this morning and she managed to inspire each one of us to get on our proverbial sailboats and start our journeys armed with powerful inspirational advice. I highly encourage watching her documentaries because her experience is just remarkable, but having her in person just made it so much more relatable. Here is the advice that she shared today: 1. When you feel overwhelmed, don't lose sight of the huge goal, but just focus on the next few nautical miles. 2. Surround yourself with people that have your same ambitions and can help you work through any obstacle. 3. Scenario planning and back-up plans are as important as the execution. 4. It is important to have people from different backgrounds and perspectives to ensure as many points of view are part of your strategies and plans. (this connects directly in my mind to #inclusion) 5. Put yourself in a situation where quitting is not an option. Build the options around you so that it is easier to keep going forward, than to quitting. 6. Stay strong when you are facing your #liquidhimalayas 7. Enjoy the beauty and simplicity of all things 8. Embracing vulnerability is part of being strong I strongly admire this brave woman and thank her for sharing her story and wisdom with us. ᴡʜᴀᴛ ᴡɪʟʟ 2023 ʙᴇ ᴛᴏ ʏᴏᴜ? I recently embarked on a unique adventure with my family – we attended our first Renaissance Fair. Let me tell you, it was quite an experience! From the impressive costumes to people fully embracing their roles and showcasing their skills, it got me thinking. 🤔 Stepping into the world of the Renaissance Fair reminded me how important it is to try out new things. Before this, I'd only heard about these fairs in passing, and they seemed like something other than my cup of tea. However, going there with my kids changed my perspective entirely. The costumes were intricate, participants truly embraced the spirit of the event, and I found myself learning about historical times I had never explored before. The dedication of the knights engaged in actual combat was noteworthy – their commitment was undeniable. This entire experience served as a reminder that stepping out of our comfort zones and embracing novelty is essential. I came across the story of a seasoned knight who joined the fair in his 40s and continued thriving even in his 60s, passing on his knowledge to new participants. If he could embark on such a journey later in life, why can't we explore new avenues? So, I propose a challenge: give something new a shot. I recently read about trying something bold each year, creating standout memories along the way. This concept resonates with me as a way to infuse excitement into life. I've come to appreciate the mantra: "Growth happens in the uncomfortable." With each passing year, it's easy to slip into the mindset of self-imposed limitations, uttering phrases like, "My time for that has passed," or "I'm too old for this now." Yet, I challenge myself to see each shift in month or season as a fresh opportunity to redefine my boundaries. As May 1st approaches, I'm reminded of the power in pushing beyond comfort zones. It's a chance to embrace new challenges and opportunities for personal growth. Let's embark on this journey of growth- So, I ask you: What's one thing you will do to challenge yourself this coming month? together.

Unlearn, relearn, rewrite...

Amen. One man’s vision to make things better for all. Will out last 1,000 people trying to keep a lid on the garbage can we are calling a selection process; the hires unethical, friends and cohorts over the Merit System Principles intended for Federal hiring and promotion. Look at our financial losses, in the billions. My best estimate is 66% of our losses would vanish it the PMG would address the fact that there is a direct nexus between selections and the selectee 97% of the time. It’s a design for failure. Diversity, fairness in promotions, a willingness to adhere to Prohited Personnel Practices and Merit System Principles. That is how you correct service to the American public. And stop violating Veterans who served in the military successfully; 4, 6, 15, 20 and even 30 years. We are being blocked for promotions by people who smile in our faces and say “thank you for your service.” Empty words. You lips will say anything, your behavior doesn’t lie.” Top Ware (Manager, In-Plant Support, EAS-25), the EEOC back dated my promotion to January 4, 2010. For the same type selection discrimination I am experiencing again. I have a new case and I plan on being successful again. Contingent Liability is how you hide the real financial loss impact to the American tax paying citizens. We are able to challenge the system because is is seriously flawed. Let people help who know what the problem is and how to fix it. Most, do not follow the spirit and intent of our Selections Mothods Course or Handbook EL-312 which is basically the Bible on what should be followed.
