Traveling is one of the most transformative experiences, offering a window into the rich tapestry of human existence. As we traverse different geographies, we are not only introduced to varied landscapes but also a medley of customs, traditions, and worldviews. This diversity is the soul of our global community, each culture presenting a unique piece of the puzzle that makes up our shared human history. The journey from being an outsider to a brief participant in these cultures nurtures our capacity for empathy, broadens our perspectives, and challenges our inherent biases. Learning about new cultures, however, goes beyond merely tasting exotic dishes or attending local festivals. It is about immersing oneself in the stories of the people, understanding the reasons behind their customs, and recognizing the universal emotions that bind us all. This deep dive not only enriches the traveler's knowledge but also fosters a sense of global citizenship. In a world where divisions often overshadow commonalities, such experiences remind us of the power of human connection and the beauty of diversity. #diversity #love #travel #culture #vacation #htx #houston #travelagent #travel #businesstravel #travelstyle #people #love #island #beach #ocean #travelagency #foryou #fyp #parati #pati #like #loveit #book #agent #travelnews #blog #travelblog

National Geographic Travel Show Host/Keynote Diversity in Travel Consultant / Black Travel App founder/ President at Black Travel Alliance
Dear Destinations, When it comes to fostering travel experiences for Black Travelers, intentionality is key! Not only is It essential to conduct thorough research on Black travel preference and events that attract Black travelers to your region. It’s a must you engage with Black travel media to AUTHENTICALLY share the untold stories of Black history and excellence from your area. Let's delve into this further. Last month, I had the privilege of collaborating with Destination Toronto on a campaign focused on showcasing Black-owned businesses in Toronto. As a passionate Black travel enthusiast, I recognized the significance of Caribana, a major tourism and financial driver in Toronto, generating $438+ million in revenue every August. While my primary purpose was to attend the Beyoncé concert, I saw this as an excellent opportunity to feature Black-owned establishments in Toronto through the ABC travel Greenbook app, social media following, networks, and connections with carnival-goers worldwide. Whenever I visit carnivals, I actively seek out Black-owned self-care businesses, restaurants, communities, exhibits, and tours. Destination Toronto took keen interest in my preferences and thoughtfully curated an incredible itinerary, spotlighting Black-owned Toronto businesses for me to explore and share content intentionally leading up to the Caribana event. Why is this approach effective? Because as travelers prepare for their trip, they actively seek relevant information and unique experiences to enjoy during their visit. Black travelers want to feel seen and heard beyond the confines of Black History Month. They seek acknowledgment from destinations that truly understand why they are visiting and what they aspire to experience while there. This connection should extend beyond event periods and be evident throughout the year, demonstrating that your destination warmly welcomes visitors from diverse backgrounds. Without a doubt, Destination Toronto exemplifies a destination that leads the way in genuinely embracing Black travelers! Menisha Moses thank you! #travel #travelindustry #travelandtourism #diversityandinclusion #diversityintravel #destinationtoronto #toronto

"Is it safe"? Here's how do to Jamaica like a local. We wanted to share this fascinating piece from The Soulhaus™ penned by our head of creative, Marleisse S., attempting to ask the age old question of how to experience Jamaica beyond the resorts. As a brand someone passionate about experiential travel that makes a positive community impact, we loved the perspective of consciously moving from tourist to traveler. The article provides wonderful insights from Jamaican Ayanna P. Wilks and diaspora members LoTia Swint and Effie Cudjoe on truly immersing yourself and from adopting the right mindset that let the island's vibes carry you into unexpected adventures. Some of our favorite tips: - Connect with and support local people - ask them questions, listen to their stories, let them guide you - Get off the beaten path - discover waterfalls, community spots, and hole-in-the-wall eateries most tourists miss out on - Stay at accommodations like the new ATWASI travel concierge that facilitate cultural exchange and uplift local artisans The goal is to foster understanding, make deeper connections, and travel in a way that economically empowers communities. It's about participating, not just observing. Read More: https://lnkd.in/eH8G5q3c

🌟 Paving the Way for a More Inclusive Future in Hospitality Awards! 🌟 As passionate travelers and hospitality enthusiasts, we know the impact that exceptional service and a welcoming environment can have on our travel experiences. Imagine if prestigious awards like Travel + Leisure's World's Best Awards introduced two new categories: one dedicated to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), and another recognizing the "Best Place to Work" in the industry – a category exclusively voted on by the hardworking staff who make our travel dreams come true. By incorporating a DEI category, we would not only acknowledge companies and destinations that prioritize inclusivity but also encourage the entire industry to be more proactive in creating environments where every traveler feels valued and respected. Moreover, introducing a staff-voted category would give us insights into the places that prioritize their team's growth, well-being, and sense of belonging. #HospitalityAwards #InclusiveTravel #FutureOfHospitality #travelandleisure #Worldsbest2023 https://lnkd.in/enAgmneQ

Traveling makes our fantasies look small compared to real experiences! Here's how: when we travel, we get out of our usual routine and learn to handle new situations. This helps build strength and flexibility. Plus, it breaks down stereotypes about other countries and people. We get to see firsthand that everyone shares common ground, no matter where they come from. All of this opens our minds to new ideas and ways of living. We understand different lifestyles, traditions, and values, learning to accept differences and appreciate similarities between cultures. This acceptance leads to greater kindness and patience toward others. #travelhealth #travelhealthy #safetravelseveryone #travelsmarter #healthytraveltips
