In Behavioral Economics, the "Say-Do Gap" is when people "say" something but actually "do" the opposite thing. When it comes to employee recognition and sales incentive programs, recipients may SAY, "I'd prefer cash or gift cards." However the article below highlights that people actually DO something completely different when they get them. If the research shows gifts cards are being widely unused and forgotten about, are they really driving the behavior change and inspiration you are seeking with your recognition and engagement programs?
I help clients enjoy incremental business results by driving identified and needed behavior. Certified in Applied Behavioral Economics.
This is a great read if you are giving gift cards as an award for performance. The article resonates with me personally as my husband just found 6 gift cards buried in his drawer. They had been there for years! Clearly, these awards did not inspire him. https://lnkd.in/eY7JHqzN

❄The 5 Gift Cards of the Holidays!❄Our third gift card character of the holidays is “store credit"! If you return or cancel a non-refundable good or service, you might get credit loaded onto a card. Consider using this type of store credit quickly because it’s not technically a gift card and is allowed to expire! Learn more about BC’s gift card rules on our website: https://lnkd.in/g7C2Fbs5 #GiftCards #Rules #TheMoreYouKnow Image description: An illustration of a personified pink gift card wearing mittens and a hat, holding a shopping back in front of a store. Text on the left side of the image reads store credit when you return a non-refundable item. Consider using store credit quickly. Store credit is not a gift card and is allowed to expire. The Consumer Protection BC logo is below that.

It's a new year and many people are setting goals to declutter and organize but are struggling with how to get started. I recommend working through 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗽𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗽𝗮𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝘁 𝗮 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲. Look at each item in the pile and decide if it is something to file/keep or if it is needs action. Otherwise, just get rid of it - recyle or shred. You now have two smaller two piles - 𝗳𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗰𝘁 - to deal with: - For the action items - determine when it needs to be done and add it to your calendar (paper or digital). - If it is something to file/keep, add it to an existing file or create a new one. I just did this with a client and we found several gift cards, that she forgot she had, and her automobile registration renewal, that required an inspection, which she didn't realize. Before I left her house, she had a plan for dealing with all of her actions items. And, she had a clean desk top. Try this and let me know what you find. I hope this helps you get started with decluttering your space. If you still need help, please send me a message. #declutter #fileacttoss #clearmydesk #productiveenvironment #cleardesk

Gift card scams are on the rise, and are even more popular during this holiday season. These scams typically revolve around scammers asking for payment in the form of a gift card, or tampering with the gift cards sold in stores.
