Career Tips for Young Professionals – It’s been a privilege to work alongside Christina Oh during her tenure as Trident Health’s President and CEO. As she prepares for her new job as President of the San Francisco Bay Market for Sutter Health, following are some of the most impactful lessons I learned from her: 1. Asking someone their name is good manners. Remembering it is transformational. 2. Creating a workplace environment where colleagues have a voice and a future is an investment in the future. 3. Like a major league baseball team, always look for the next generation of leaders who can be encouraged, developed and promoted. 4. Individual and group commitments and accountability are critical to creating a unified team of leaders. 5. By honoring an uncompromising commitment to each patient, it’s possible to consistently deliver high quality, compassionate care to a large patient population that is increasingly in need of complex medical care. I am grateful for the opportunity to speak at this years National Adult Day Services Association (NADSA) conference in Chicago, Sept 27-29th. Over the years, I’ve noticed that there are two things that most adult day directors and owners don’t do. ✅ They don’t have clear Key Performace Indicators for their adult day center. They may know what KPI stands for but they’ve never written down which ones matter to their center. ✅ In other cases, they may know their KPI’s but they don’t track or measure them on a weekly basis. Adult day is currently one of the smallest industries in the senior care space. Therefore, most adult day centers are smaller mom and pop operations. As a result, there is not a lot of formal leadership training or education to support the “business” side of adult day. Most owners and operators have huge hearts, love taking care of others and making a difference in the world. However, they may lack certain business acumen which limits their growth. In this session, we will learn how to create KPI’s that matter and drive revenue. Once clearly defined, we’ll review ways to track and measure them in order to make better decisions over time!
