Yesterday, I was very pleased to joinon the floor my colleague Guy Damen at the UPEX event in Charleroi on "risks specific to ⚡️ electric vehicles". We of course presented ABB e-mobility: history, product range, teams, installations, and the whole complex environment around chargers. A special thank to the Renault experts who introduced us to lithium battery safety: they explained the design options, strategies, validation tests carried out by car manufacturers, and studies of real accidents. On the agenda: - Recycling and second life of traction batteries 👉 Febelauto - The development of charge points and the precautions to be taken 👉 ABB - Fire safety in car parks with electric vehicles 👉 SFP - Traction battery design and safety measures 👉 Renault Expert - How a traction battery reacts after a traffic accident 👉 Laboratoire d'accidentologie et de biomécanique - Fires in electrified vehicles 👉 Renault and the fire brigade - Safety precautions for storing and handling damaged electrified vehicles 👉 Renault Experts The experts' conclusion based on test results and field's feedback : the latest generation of electric vehicles are as safe as internal combustion engines vehicles. However, battery technology requires adapted safety procedures because they react differently to fire than conventional cars and because of the high voltage of the battery, which constitutes a potential electrical risk in the event of damage. So, we need now to work in terms of knowledge share, procedures, and equipment to bring large numbers of electric vehicles to market safely. As a reminder, electric vehicles are already a reality on the market, accounting for 20% of new sales in Luxembourg. Take up the challenge!
We present ABB E-mobility today at the seminar from Union Prof. des Experts Automobiles at Charleroi. The role of charging infrastructure within fire protection, Mythe or Reality? Join us together with almost 300 participants! Renault Group, Febelauto Denis Hubert Catherine Lenaerts Hervé Naegels Aurélie Débart

Here we go again. The bi-annual UK Farnborough Airshow, in the southern county of Hampshire, is about to begin (July 22nd-26th) with weather conditions more befitting a typical English summer than 2022, when attendees experienced extreme 40 centigrade heat (110 Fahrenheit). The 45th Farnborough is seen as one of the largest airshow events in the world, and AAM-related companies are making a more visible appearance than before as the industry continues to grow. https://lnkd.in/e8eRxX9D #FarnboroughAirshow #UKAviation #Farnborough45 #AAMCompanies #AviationTechnology #AerospaceInnovation #FarnboroughExhibition

I was speaking with an industry acquaintance a week ago today about his upcoming trip to São Paulo for LABACE, and told him I would not be able to make it this year. He predicted that by today I would be suffering from an acute case of FOMO as a result. I have traveled to LABACE, as an attendee or an exhibitor, eight times over the years. Brazil has been, and continues to be, a great market for Aviation Partners, with many Dassault Falcon Jet owners in the country choosing to upgrade their airplanes with Blended Winglets. Our FAA STCs for winglets on Falcon 2000, 900 and 50 series models have all received ANAC validation. So Brazilian registered Falcons owners can fly farther, operate more efficiently, look better, and reduce their carbon footprint, at a fraction of the cost of buying a new airplane. If you are at LABACE, and your Falcon (or Hawker) still needs winglets, two of our authorized installers, Duncan Aviation and StandardAero, are exhibiting; I’m sure they’d love to chat. I’m missing my once regular visit to LABACE – the vibrant atmosphere at the show, the most civilized opening hours (noon to 8 pm!) of any industry convention, the excellent staff and service at the Renaissance hotel, the bustling metropolis that is São Paulo, and, of course, the Caipirinhas! But most of all I miss connecting with the people in Brazilian business aviation, many of whom I only see at their show. The person I spoke with last week was right, I am indeed feeling some effects of FOMO. By the way, it was Alasdair Whyte of Corporate Jet Investor; no stranger to predicting industry sentiment is it any wonder he diagnosed my current condition a week in advance? Wishing everyone who is attending LABACE an enjoyable, productive and successful show. Here’s hoping I make it back next year! P.S. As it's LABACE week, this photo is of the first Brazilian Falcon to have winglets installed (at StandardAero SPI back in September 2009). There have been many more since, and two more are currently committed for installation before year end. #WingletWednesday #ThinkWinglets #sustainableaviation #bizav #LABACE2023 #Falcon2000 #Falcon900 #Falcon50

The future of sustainable aviation is near....
They say everything is bigger in Texas. It just got faster too. Today at Farnborough International Airshow, we announced that Symphony assembly and testing will take place at StandardAero’s facility in San Antonio. As part of our expanded relationship, StandardAero will manage production, which will scale up to 330 engines annually. Learn more about Symphony production here: https://lnkd.in/ezpY_vdU
