We've touched down in Cannes 🦁 and we're ready to take on the heat this week! There's nothing more exciting than being on the ground and connecting with our platform partners, clients and industry leaders. We, along with many others, are (perhaps overly) optimistic about getting invited to one of the many Spotify concerts. However, FOMO will be far less than in previous years, with the likes of Snap, Amazon, and TikTok coming through with great evening events featuring The National, Kelis, Honey Dijon, Tinashe, Mr. Eazi, INJI, + many more 🎶 There's no shortage of fantastic events (duh). What more could we possibly want. ⚡ Meta: NavigAIting the Future - a great pun and a great subject. It's been a bright and busy start to the year for our team and I thought I'd share some of the highs, lows, and learnings. On January 8 we put on a press event to announce three new products and a strategic partnership at CES Las Vegas. 🎥 The press event went great, it was well attended and we had fantastic product feedback from the journalists there. We also decided to livestream the event via our Youtube channel and took on an external experienced AV company to make sure this went seamlessly... it didn't. 🙈 After all of the testing went well, shortly before the livestream kicked off, technical issues appeared that weren't fully fixable. The result: a livestream with poor audio throughout, not a good look for any company, especially an audio one. This is why most companies do pre-recorded livestreams, we thought we would make it special by making it truly live and putting in the prep, but we won't be doing that again any time soon. 😞 Following the event, CES media activities, and press release we won an astonishing (and counting) 28 'Best of CES' product awards (over 10 each for MOMENTUM True Wireless 4 and MOMENTUM Sport in case you're asking) from media outlets including Rolling Stone, USA Today, Popular Science, What Hi-Fi and many more reputable publications. 🥇 A really good foundation ahead of launch and a testament to the many innovations that we are introducing, not to mention the great work of our PR team to bring this to everyone's attention. However, due to the huge media coverage that we received, one of our products also became one of the targets of a negative article that was then syndicated to many more media outlets. We took the hit for the whole true wireless earbud category as the criticism applies to us and our competitors, but only mentions us by name. 🎧 One of the lessons learned here is that success puts you in the spotlight and firing line and you soon become the representative of your entire industry and take the hits that come with that. 🎯 It's a cliche, but every road comes with its highs and lows, obstacles and detours, we just have to stay focussed on staying the course and anticipating & dealing with all of the bumps on the road. While everyone (looking at you Michael Thill) is off enjoying the sun and creativity at Cannes Lions, here I am, not jealous at all. Seriously, not one bit jealous. Not even a little. For those unfamiliar, the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity is a premier event in the advertising and communications industry. It runs from June 17-21 this year and features over 150 hours of content with around 500 speakers from across the globe. Icons like Deepak Chopra, Jay Shetty, and representatives from top companies like Google and P&G are sharing insights and innovations that are shaping the industry. https://lnkd.in/gv7s3rQH Why do we flock to events like this? The draw is in both the recognition and the opportunity for professional growth. From a behavioral science perspective, humans have a deep-seated desire for validation and acknowledgment. Awards like the Cannes Lions provide a platform to be judged and, hopefully, celebrated for our creativity and hard work. But why do we want to be judged? The answer lies in the psychological satisfaction of recognition, which can enhance self-esteem and motivate continued excellence. Beyond personal satisfaction, there are significant business reasons for pursuing these accolades. Winning at Cannes can enhance a company’s reputation, attract new clients, and justify higher fees for services. In essence, these awards are a tangible marker of success and a powerful marketing tool. However, at Havas Edge we believe that the best award is the trust and loyalty of our clients. While it's great to be recognized on such a prestigious stage, our ultimate goal is to consistently deliver value and results for our clients, day in and day out. That, to us, is the most meaningful accolade of all. Still, would be nice to be there.

It has been an intense week at Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. Thanks to all the friends who came to visit us on our Equativ yacht. I am sharing the insights and feedback from our conversations: ✅ The ad tech industry has evolved past its nascent, high-growth phase and is now in a stage where consolidation is a logical step for long-term success. ✅ The emphasis has moved from growth multiples to EBITDA, reflecting a need for profitability and financial stability. This shift is not a sign of industry weakness but rather an adaptation to broader macro-economic realities. ✅ Consolidation does not stifle innovation, rather, it can foster it. Larger, consolidated companies have more resources to invest in research and development. ✅ Innovation is the key to drive advancements in AI, programmatic advertising, data analytics, and other critical areas. It allows companies to be better positioned to adapt to regulatory changes, such as increased privacy laws and the phasing out of third-party cookies, by developing and implementing new, compliant technologies.

You don’t sell events. You sell experiences. People buy tickets based on emotion. By imagining how it feels to be there. What memories they’ll make. The stories they’ll tell. By having a unique perspective, you’re crafting an experience that your ticket buyers can’t get anywhere else. And whether you’ve been running 1 year or 60 years, that’s a great selling point.
