At the start of day one of the EV SUMMIT, we played a film our production team created, called 'Beautiful'. This celebrated the stable ecological ecosystem our societies and economies depend upon. By the end of an incredible day of positivity, I've come to understand that the EV community at the summit share a creative, collaborative ethos that is, in itself, beautiful. This year's EV SUMMIT opened with a live violinist, Violeta Vicci, accompanying a film called Beautiful, a film about the beautiful, stable ecological world we depend upon. Eight years ago, I began a sixth month process of meetings with people telling me an EV business event was something that would never be commercially viable, or, indeed, viable at all. Now, the EV SUMMIT, in its seventh year, attracts the most exciting brands in the sector and has led to partnership into the tens of millions, including Europe's most powerful EV hub, directly attributable to a summit collaboration. Our first three vehicles, inside, at the front of the Saïd Business School, University of Oxford: the John Cooper Works electric Mini, the Mahindra Racing Formula E car, and the Microlino. What a start. The lesson here, of course, is, if you have an idea you believe in, particularly if it's an idea with purpose and meaning, that will genuinely make our lives better, push on. And on. A note to say I am rather overwhelmed by the outpouring of support for the sustainability project that is the EV SUMMIT, here on LinkedIn. Now in its seventh year, working in partnership, we have, together, created something very, very special: the leading high level business event for the decarbonisation of mobility. With such a great team, and great partners, no one, no one, does it better. And certainly no one has such a laser focus on sustainability narratives and outcomes as the EV SUMMIT does. A special thank you to Oxford City Council, Oxfordshire County Council, Auto Trader UK, and to EY, for their long-standing support; but thank you to everyone who has travelled on this eight year journey.
