Happy Memorial Day!
Or, is that really something we should say?
This week, we're sharing some words on what Memorial Day means and how we can all be of service:

We are inspired by the story of Phoebe Miles and her mission to continue her father's legacy of invention, creativity, and community-driven innovation from USPTO's most recent #JourneysofInnovation. Dr. James Cade's invention of Gatorade at the University of Florida, which originated as a solution to the effects of dehydration in football players, showcases the profound impact of innovation on sports, health, and society. A lengthy legal battle over product royalties in the 1970s was also responsible in part for the passage of the Bayh-Dole Act in 1980 that gave the public easier access to the fruits of university research.
Gatorade had humble beginnings back in 1965 when it was first developed, but in a few short years, it became synonymous with sports drinks for athletes of all types. That legacy endures today in gyms, on neighborhood sports fields, and in professional stadiums across the country. As an Intellectual Property law firm, Cantor Colburn LLP recognizes the crucial role of IP protection in fostering groundbreaking ideas. Dr. Cade's journey highlights the importance of securing patents to safeguard valuable inventions, including research and innovation that occurs at research universities and institutions.
We believe that fostering a culture of 'inventivity' is essential for a thriving American society, and our law firm remains committed to supporting inventors, entrepreneurs, and academia in protecting their ideas.

Dr. James Cade’s invention, Gatorade, first made a splash on the football field nearly 60 years ago.
Today, his daughter Phoebe Cade Miles and the Cade Museum for Creativity & Invention staff in Gainesville, Florida, continue Cade’s legacy by encouraging 'inventivity' for all Americans through creativity, courage, resiliency, and confident humility.

One more time for the people in the back!!!
I am literally in a group chat with legal nurses who could be considered “competitors”. We share ideas, talk through situations, ask for recommendations, and offer to help each other when one is overloaded. (We also laugh a lot 🙃)
They are secure in the their abilities, as am I. The real competition is between you and yourself. Are you doing things everyday to become successful?
💥 waking up early
💥 consistent marketing
💥 following up with potential clients
💥 looking for ways to stand out
💥 staying current with recognized standards of care
Collaboration vs. competition

The biggest celebrity in the world is not a sports star or a Hollywood actor/actress, he is a Youtuber. Mr. Beast has over 200 million subscribers to his channel and his videos easily surpass that number in views on a consistent basis. Jimmy has also exemplified the era of celebrities going from marketing products, to launching products, realizing their full worth in the value chain.
This is no surprise that most products are nothing without a marketing plan, and influencers realizing their true weight in the revenue they drive for businesses has competely transformed the landscape. Instead of taking money to promote products, they have created their own brands to maximize their profit, and done so very successfully.
The future holds exciting prospects for this evolving relationship between creators and consumers. As influencers continue to launch their own brands successfully, it suggests that the marketing game will no longer be dominated solely by established companies. Smaller businesses and individuals with a strong online presence will have the opportunity to shape the market by creating and promoting products that genuinely resonate with their audiences.. Prime with Gatorade, Feastibles with Hersheys.
This shift also underlines the importance of authenticity and trust. Consumers are drawn to influencers they believe in, who have built a genuine connection with their audience. In an age of information overload, the trust these influencers have cultivated is an invaluable asset for product promotion.
In conclusion, the evolving landscape of product development and marketing is marked by a move towards authenticity, collaboration, and the power of individual influence. As influencers continue to leverage their online presence to create successful brands, we can anticipate a future where consumers have even more influence over the products they buy and where authenticity remains at the core of marketing strategies, something all marketers need to consider going forward.
