💡🌎 𝗔𝗜 𝗺𝗲𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴! Holistic AI-based optimization of plastic packaging with recycled content: this is the focus of the 𝗞𝗜𝗢𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗣𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 – supported by the Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung (BMBF) as part of the 𝗙𝗢𝗡𝗔 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝘆 and the 𝗔𝗜 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻 of the BMBF. But what has 𝗥-𝗖𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗲 got to do with it? Through our community member Reifenhauser Group , we are a partner in this project and are involved in various areas. Christian Stelter, Senior Manager Implementation and Projects at R-Cycle, explains: "The first starting point for KIOptiPack is the material qualities for packaging. The goal is to provide practice-ready AI-supported tools for the successful product design and quality-compliant production of plastic packaging with a high proportion of recycled materials in an AI application and data room, to validate them and to transfer them to the application. Fundamentally different but interrelated processes such as the design of the packaging in terms of recyclability and functionality, the production of films in the extrusion process and the forming of cups from the films, for example, are considered holistically. What applications are bioplastics currently being used for and what applications will bioplastics replace in the future? Over the last few months Floreon has explained what many of these ‘buzz’ topics and words actually mean. Bioplastics are being used in a variety of applications across different industries. Currently, they are commonly found in packaging materials and single use products, agricultural films & disposable medical products. However due to innovations from companies such as Floreon bioplastics now have the potential to replace traditional oil-based plastics in a wider range of demanding applications. Due to our advancing technology we are now able to offer durable bioplastics that can be used in automotive components, electronic casings, toys, and consumer goods. One of the key advantages of bioplastics is their potential to reduce carbon emissions and dependence on fossil fuels. As environmental concerns and regulations surrounding plastic waste and pollution increase, bioplastics offer a more sustainable option. Floreon is a bioplastic with exceptional strength and durability. Such potential has never been available to PLA before- Floreon has developed 3 grades of material for different uses but has the benefit of being better for the environment that is suitable for use in your existing manufacturing process. Many manufacturers and brands continue to use ABS for high performance products as they need them to be flame retarded but this is very harmful to the environment; now there is a biomaterial alternative from Floreon that matches the durability, performance, is flame retarded and has up to 7 times lower carbon footprint, it is now time to switch!
