As we honor and celebrate our planet on Earth Day, let us unite our efforts to support the global fight for a safe and sustainable environment, today and every day. This year's theme for Earth Day, "Planet vs. Plastic," resonates deeply with the global efforts to combat an environmental crisis and preserve our planet. The theme underscores the urgent need to address plastic pollution, a pressing environmental issue that threatens ecosystems, wildlife, and human health. Against the backdrop of these environmental challenges, organizations like the Kerala Pravasi Association Trust are leading the way in alleviating pollution levels in their communities by advocating for sustainable practices and inspiring collective action beyond Earth Day. The KPA Trust has long been at the forefront of environmental protection. With a mission to create a cleaner, greener Kerala for generations to come, the trust has been instrumental in implementing innovative solutions to tackle pollution, particularly plastic pollution, at its source. From waste management initiatives to promoting recycling and advocating for policy changes, the KPA Trust's multifaceted approach addresses the complex challenges posed by pollution. The KPA Trust's cause to fight pollution aligns seamlessly with the global effort to reduce plastic consumption, minimize waste, and foster a culture of sustainability. The simplest way to reduce plastic waste is to avoid unnecessary and single-use plastics, support businesses that are reducing plastic waste, reuse and recycle existing plastic and, above all, raise awareness about the effects of plastic pollution, allowing individuals and communities to make informed choices that benefit the planet. Let this Earth Day lead the way to a year of enthusiasm, and commitment to create a new plan of action for our planet. Together, let us be mindful of our impact on the earth and the environment and remain committed to preserving the natural world for generations to come. Join us in our movement, take a stand against plastic pollution, and let your actions speak louder than words. Together, we can make a difference, not just on Earth Day but every day. . . #keralapravasiassociationtrust #KPA #kerala #SelfReliantKeralaThroughPravasis #pravasi #keralam #keralapravasi #EarthDay #EarthDay2024 #GoGreen #SaveThePlanet #PlantATree #OceanConservation #ZeroWaste #WaterConservation #GlobalWarming #GreenLiving

Imagine 350 whales made of plastic waste. Not the picturesque vision we have for our oceans, right? Under our Samudra Manthan Initiative, we've collected 70093 Metric Tons of ocean-bound plastic—equivalent to the weight of 350 whales! But it's not just cleanup; it's about rejuvenating marine ecosystems. By collecting ocean-bound plastic, we, at Recykal.com, aim to restore the integrity of marine environments, protect biodiversity, and safeguard the well-being of both marine life and humans which depend on healthy oceans. We're preventing further damage, reducing the negative impact of plastic pollution, and giving back to nature. We are enabling a more sustainable and resilient ecosystem for future generations. Collecting ocean-bound waste has also contributed to the socio-economic development, particularly in coastal communities. This initiative has generated employment opportunities in waste management, cleanup operations, recycling facilities, and related sectors contributing to the overall well-being and prosperity of the coastal regions. Samudra Manthan is an ongoing project, now expanding across districts in India. The monumental impact it promises for our oceans and coastal regions is precisely what the hour demands. Stay tuned as we reveal more impact numbers and continue diverting plastic from our lifelines – the oceans. Until then—leaving you with a question to ponder. What was the more crucial outcome of the Samudra Manthan - Halahala or Amrita? #SamudraManthan #Oceanboundplastic #70093MT

🌿 Towards a Greener Future: Ceylan Vie’s Fight Against Plastic Pollution in Sri Lanka 🌿 🌼 Despite being a small island, Sri Lanka unfortunately holds the tragic title of the fifth-largest marine polluter in the world. 😱 🐞 Ceylan Vie does is best to fight against plastic pollution in Sri Lanka. 🌼 It's surprising to see a country of 22.6 million people (2021) competing with much more populous nations in this undesirable ranking. 🐞 According to a study published in Science Magazine, each inhabitant of Sri Lanka could be throwing away up to 5 kg of plastic per day. 🌼 In the face of this challenge, rethinking our use of plastic is crucial. 💚 At Ceylan Vie, we are committed to doing our part towards a greener future. We avoid using plastic in our packaging as much as possible, and when the use of plastic is unavoidable, we implement a refill system to reduce our environmental impact. 💚 We firmly believe that every action counts in protecting our beautiful island and our planet. 💚 The waste problem extends beyond plastic, but taking steps in this area can be a significant leap forward. 💚 The impact of plastic depends as much on individual choices and actions we take every day as it does on government policies and the availability of plastic at major retailers. 💚 Together, let's make a difference. 💚 https://ceylanvie.com/ https://lnkd.in/g5fGBSSW #ceylanvie #nature #zerowaste #sustainability #environment #buylocal #pollution #plasticpollution

Plastic: discarded from our homes, into theirs - A recent study showed that 75% of the Himalayan brown bears’ diet consists of plastic. Plastic pollution has made its presence known across the Himalayas, reaching even the high altitude habitat of the Himalayan brown bear. - 56 tonnes of plastic waste were found in Sundarbans after a 2020 cyclone, in just one of the 50 islands. This level of plastic pollution is destroying the Royal Bengal tigers’ natural habitat. - This Gangetic river dolphin died of starvation due to a plastic bottle cap ring that got caught in its snout. The Ganges river network, which is home to these dolphins forms the second-largest plastic polluting catchment in the world. Each year, we unveil an awe-inspiring sustainable gifting collection centered around a specific theme and dedicated to vital social causes aimed at combating the dire effects of plastic pollution. Earlier this year, we launched the Fantastic Beasts of India - an exclusive collection of gift hampers aimed towards the preservation of the Himalayan Brown Bear, the Ganges River Dolphin, and the Royal Bengal Tiger. These magnificent creatures face imminent endangerment due to the relentless onslaught of plastic pollution, a crisis that escalates with every passing year. Within this distinguished collection, you will discover three meticulously crafted hampers, each bearing the name of one of these endangered animals and their habitats. Save our Fantastic Beasts, through your gifts. The Himalayan Clean-up efforts from 2018 to 2021, led by the Integrated Mountain Initiative with Zero Waste Himalayas and the National Productivity Council of India, uncovered a concerning rise in plastic waste, especially non-recyclables, across the Indian Himalayan Region. The waste audit from the Himalayan Clean-up (2022) reported that 92.7% of the waste comprised plastic, of which 72% was non-recyclable plastic. This improper plastic disposal is causing soil and water pollution, harming biodiversity, and jeopardizing freshwater sources vital for downstream communities. This Earth Day, let’s unite to take proactive measures to choose our planet over plastic and protect our mountains from the detrimental impact of plastic waste. #earthcare #earthcareawards #earthday #worldearthday #worldearthday2024 #planetvsplastic #breakfreefromplastic #plasticpollution #wastefreeplanet #plasticfree #plasticwaste

🌍 𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐄𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐃𝐚𝐲: 𝐋𝐞𝐭'𝐬 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐞 𝐇𝐲𝐠𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲! 🌿 As World Environment Day draws closer, I want to share my thoughts on the importance of hygiene and its role in promoting environmental sustainability. 🗑️ Simple Acts Matter: Start by separating plastic waste from organic waste at home. This small effort can have a significant impact. Avoiding the habit of throwing waste on roadsides and public places is crucial for responsible citizenship. 🏠 Clean Homes, Clean Localities: Keeping our homes clean is important, but we must also ensure our neighborhoods and travel destinations are hygienic. Let's refrain from littering, especially with plastic waste. 🌱Take Responsibility: In India, we often blame the government for issues like stray dog attacks and plastic waste disposal. However, improper waste management significantly contributes to these problems. Simple actions like bringing your own bags to the store and using reusable water bottles can make a big difference. 🧹 Environmental Responsibility: Clean surroundings are as important as our environmental duties. Let's encourage each other to maintain cleanliness, even if it feels like a small effort. Every single wrapper counts! 💪 Be Firm, Save the Future: Let's stay committed and protect our precious environment for future generations.♻️ #worldenvironmentday #sustainability #hygiene #environmentalresponsibility #keepitclean
