Adam. I can't put into words how amazing it is that you talk about this openly and widely. Hats off to you. As someone who has suffered, and still suffers, from anxiety in particular I know the perceived stigma attached. Only by talking about mental health, normalising the conversation and pushing back against any bias will we remove the stigma

Well said Adam. (I have to ask, do you still send the Friday puzzle around? I suspect this question will show you how long it is since I was at BCG!)

Dear Adam, thank you for sharing this - something we, as a society, need to see a lot more of. Some may comment praising your “courage”, or thanking you for being “brave” - and whilst I agree that speaking of anxiety and depression can feel hard, personal and scary (at first), we must get to a point where these topics are normalised. So instead of congratulating on your courage, I will thank you for being a great role model of what a strong and empathetic leader should be. Hope you are keeping well!

I think often of your incredible generosity and courage when you first offered to speak to others who might be struggling with their mental health, and how privelaged I felt to see the tangible difference this made to others. Thank you for the work you do in normalising talking about how we are feeling, and encouraging others to do the same.

Dear Adam, I loved that you have highlighted how leaders can proactively prevent and support mental health challenges. The Australian Bureau of Statistics recently published that 42.9% of people aged 16–85 years had experienced a mental disorder at some time in their life. This emphasises that supporting mental health is a key requirement of leaders who want effective and happy teams.

Hi Adam, Thank you for sharing your experience of anxiety and depression. Even though we have been talking about mental health for a number of years now, it is the sharing of those experiences that are impactful. I believe it really helps others to hear those stories and that it is ok and normal to talk about it. So - thank you! Helena

Thanks for always being so open an honest on these issues, especially 10 years ago when there was much greater taboo around them
