Public Policy, Strategy and Communications leader in financial services, tech and sustainability

Rt Hon Rachel Reeves' first speech as #Chancellor of the Exchequer is well worth a read. For any business, these are probably the key words: "The central mission of this government will be to restore economic growth. It is now our national mission and it will be for the Treasury to lead that mission. "Not growth for growth’s sake but growth for a purpose. To make every part of our country better off." The Chancellor goes on to say "To deliver on this mission, I want to be the most pro-growth Treasury in our country’s history....this Treasury will play it’s full part in a new era of industrial strategy. Working hand-in-hand with business, to make sure Britain is truly open to business once again." The Chancellor also strikes a call for change: " there is a deeper responsibility too to women whose work is too often undermined, who have borne the brunt of inequality and whose lives and interests are too often excluded from economic policy making. Together, we are going to change that." An important call to action not just for HM Treasury but for any organisation and any industry - including tech and financial services - where women are still under represented (not only in the board room but in the design of products and services and the way markets work). https://lnkd.in/e2Dv_xtP

First thing Rt Hon Rachel Reeves She must scrap the IR35; companies are misusing the IR35 to exploit the money and talents! Lets say companies bring all inside IR35 roles an average of £1000 a day. Earlier agencies used to pay the same rate as clients were aware of; on top of that, they had a 20% commission or higher. Now what these companies are doing: if they bring all the roles, they are acting their monopoly; they are forcing people to work as low as £400 a day; or they are converting these roles to fixed-term contracts with an average of £400–£450 a day. People can't sit in their homes; they are forced to work under such fraudulent systems and procedures that were created by the Labour Party and reintroduced by Rishi again!  This is utterly ridiculous, and I want to talk to Rachel directly! Day 1/100 with a clear mission statement with relatively effective comms. First milestone will be day 30 (first month). Management of this transition will depend as much on internal managent as on followers. In relation to the latter the challenge will be to build trust within such a short time frame.

Scrap IR35 then and release millions from bureaucratic misery..
