I've religiously kept a business diary for 8+ years. It’s a powerful 5-minute practice to turn your ideas into concrete results. Here's why putting pen to paper’s been my secret weapon from Day 1. Ideas and plans take up space in my mind if not written down. That means: - Breakthroughs being forgotten - Lack of clarity on priorities - Procrastination on goals So, the first part’s getting everything out. - Challenges I’m facing - The reasons for those problems - Consequences of not solving them This ritual helps me process my experiences, spot patterns, and map a path forward. “Why not just use your phone?” The problem with digital notes is they open the door to distractions like notifications and social media. But a paper diary creates a “realer” connection between my thoughts and goals. Studies show handwriting engages more of your brain and improves: →Focus →Memory →Understanding So, every week I’ll flip through the pages and reconnect with my ideas, strategies, and “aha” moments. I do this whenever I: • Face a tough decision • Need a dose of perspective • Or inspiration for how to progress 9 times out of 10, I’ll uncover a forgotten lesson or spark a new idea for my path forward. It’s a habit that hasn’t let me down yet. Write it down. Make it real. Move forward. ——- I'm Adam Sinclair My pro sports career didn't quite work out, so I tackled the unsexy Removals and Storage industry instead. Love this. Also have a notebook and pen by your bed to scrawl ideas when they keep you awake at night, then you can sleep better with them out!
Agree Adam Sinclair have also done this, and for years…
There’s power in the pen!!!
Adam, Well done ... what a great discipline to get into. Best regards, Andrew 👍
Well done. This is essentially what David Allen teaches in Getting Things Done. Get stuff out of your head and into a system you can use to record your thoughts.
Adam Sinclair great insights and advice as ever. In particular you tackled the obvious question of ‘why not do it in your phone’ 👏👏👏
Adam, I'm also a big advocate for writing things down on paper and maintaining a business diary is extremely beneficial. I am loving the branded diaries. By the way, the Removals and Storage industry is not unsexy!
yes sinky boy . bossing the removal world

3wI have 20 years of diaries covering everything I was doing at the time including weather, birds nesting returning from abroad, flowers and buds pushing on trees, along with my daily work life. There’s pattern’s there along with good and bad decisions made to reflect on. Men are probably more visual learners than audible so helps with planning and maintaining the work schedule more easily.
