How do you celebrate / reward success & commitment? As a manager of a successful U11's grassroots football team I've just received a message confirming the day for our annual club presentation day, which got me thinking, surely there is a way to revamp currently what the club provides. What do you as a coach do or what does your club currently provide? How do you present on the day and what added extra's do you offer to add the 'Wow' factor for the players on the day?? To add, when I state successful U11's team, let me elaborate further, this isn't decided based on matches or trophies won, this is based on the commitment of our players (let's not forget our parents also) who arrive week in week out come rain or shine with the key fundamentals we install as a club, wear the kit (home, away / training & tracksuit) with pride and respect that your actions in that kit define the club we are! Ensure boots are cleaned (parent's can support with the bucket and sponge but that's all), Fist pumps to each other and coaches are mandatory on arrival and when you leave, respect works in so many different formats! Important to add, as a club we reward success and achievement but not individual accolades, gone are the days of 'Top Goal Scorer' or 'Player of Season' awards, for every goal there would have needed to be a pass or tackle! We as a team work on the principles of let's support everyone to achieve success, which in turn costs us more on team trophies! Let's not forget for these 10 / 11 year olds life will be challenging, they will have ups & downs but ultimately working on fundamental habits and showcasing respect is a requirement in any role they will take on in the future - Who knows one of these players could end up working for your company, representing your brand or undertaking an apprenticeship or further education in the future. So, if any of my connections can offer any insights to make this the best presentation event this year not just for my team but also for our club that has 46 teams representing within the grassroots community please offer your comments or send me a DM. Let's work together to celebrate and reward the commitment of our young players in the best way possible! #grassrootsfootball

A F/T player development programme that plays pro clubs at first team, U23 and U21 levels! Sponsored by University of Derby and PlayerData We wear Nike Team wear & Apparel
That’s the end of the 2023/24 season. Plenty of highs and some lows to learn from. Time to reflect and recharge, ready to go again ⚽️🟠💙 At the start of the season we wanted to achieve the following: 1. Create a positive vibrant culture without fear or negativity ✅ 2. Provide a new innovative learning framework for young footballers that would mean something to them in their future ✅ 3. To enable young footballers to re-enter the eco-system of the game as paid footballers ✅ 4. To provide a pick me up service to footballers suffering hardship, emotional turbulence or fear of playing the game following their release from a club ✅ “over 100 players supported in various ways” 5. In the high level competitions we feature in we wanted to be promoted and represent our partners in a positive light ✅ 6. Provide outstanding player care, support and education to our players 7. Creating opportunity for those players in many ways but in its basic form having many decision makers from clubs watch the group, play showcase games and give them meaningful work experience in their chosen field meaning they are well supported to find a future within the game or outside it ✅ 8. We wanted to create meaningful roles within our structure ensuring employees and interns gained a sense of purpose, enjoyment and skills that would enable them to be successful and standout in the football industry. This year we’ve given opportunity to 6 performance analysts, nearly 100 footballers, several sports therapists, people within strength and conditioning, sports psychology, nearly 50 student journalists to name but some ✅ 9. To provide opportunities for young people to learn valuable life skills ✅ 10. To enable young people to live away from home to gain independence and an understanding themselves ✅ 11. We wanted to provide opportunities for peer learning and to provide opportunities where we inspire young people and give them an understanding of themselves, their immediate future aims and objectives while understanding how to achieve their goals ✅ Some big thankyou’s to everyone at the University of Derby plus special thank you’s to Jordan Butler Andrew Hooton Simon Law and Luke Gibson Our friends PlayerData have been brilliant and we can’t thank you enough for your continued support. It’s been a good season, on to the next! #highereducation #fda #football #BUCS #talentid #scouting #player #footballtrials #derby #uod #gps #playerdata #procontract #proclub #opportunities #support

Like many others, I am addicted on a Saturday night to both Strictly Come Dancing and Match of the Day. In both we saw uncharacteristic mistakes from the players and dancers. Was it, as the head judge Shirley Ballas suggested, attributable to ‘something in the air?’ Raya for Arsenal, Sanchez for Chelsea and Nigel Harman in Strictly, committed obvious blunders. The result in all cases was the same, loss of points. But of course it wasn't down to ‘something in the air’; it is something more readily understandable, performance with a live audience. The nerves and dawning awareness of self under scrutiny, happens in both arenas. Dancers, footballers and indeed all performing artists and sports people, develop the capacity to perform optimally under pressure. It's a key transferable skill from the performing arts and sport into business and Industry. Which is why, when Eduvate tackles financial literacy gamification at scale, we put players under pressure, in a fun way. So looking at the questions we’ve devised is one thing; completing them under time pressure or in competition with other players is entirely another. It enhances the experience no end. The Game is mightier than the Test. #Strictly #matchoftheday #financialliteracy #virtualinternships #Arsenal #Chelsea

Let the spring sports begin! As an athletic trainer, you have to be ready for the extreme heat and the extreme cold. With the spring sports beginning in the previous weeks, we are now having to travel outside for sports like lacrosse, soccer, track, and baseball. Last week, I attended my internship for the first boys lacrosse home game against Mountain Crest... to say the least, I froze while we were helping the athletes. I learned that as an athletic trainer, you have to be on top of not only what sports are going on and what the weather is like. Most sports like lacrosse and soccer will only stop their games if there is lightning. Why? Because when the athletes are running around, they are at a very high risk of getting electrocuted in a storm. So, it is a part of an athletic trainers duty to notify referees and coaches to stop play when there is lightning nearby. Below, I have attached an article that describes the risks of continuing play during lightning storms. https://lnkd.in/dj4thQxv

Recently, I joined theClubhouse® (https://lnkd.in/g8_U53CF) as a volunteer mentor in hopes of sharing my story. In the two weeks since I joined, I've been incredibly humbled by my sessions with three students, all at various levels of their careers and collegiate tenure. I signed up to mentor because I wanted express to every student (and even those who aren't students!), that no one's path is ever the same. I didn't get into broadcasting until my late 20's, a decade after my traditional schooling had ended, and thanks to so many BIG breaks and amazing people. As many of you know, I worked in car sales for eight years before taking the leap into hockey play-by-play. Those eight years in car sales were crucial for me and have helped set the foundation for my current career. So while I didn't have the traditional and most common path of HS ---> four year college ---> internship ---> first sports job, I still got quite the education from that real world experience. An education that I feel might even be better suited to my fates, because once I did get into sports, I've been asked to sell something - from tickets, to corporate sponsorships, and beyond, at each new rung of the ladder. Sharing my story with people helps me keep perspective on it, so I don't forget where I came from. I offer the advice, including sharing the mistakes and opening up to the vulnerable moments. Stone sharpens stone in this business. If you're in high school, college, or even if your in your 30's like me and thinking about a career in sports, there are so many resources out there to help you. From finding mentors like theClubhouse®, to broadcasting job boards and communities like Sportscasters Talent Agency of America (STAA), to websites like sportscasterlife.com and Front Office Sports. Work hard and get some stones around you so you can sharpen yourself and your skills.

What if... 💥Esports became a more significant part of the school curriculum.💥 Whilst the emphasis for curriculum design continues to require a broad and balanced approach, so often it lacks a modern edge. Esports has been and continues to be a growing industry. So many children, young people and adults engage in Esports. Why not make it more accessible within curriculum offers for children and young people to reap the benefits from it? British Esports offers a Level 2 and a Level 3 BTEC course in Esports which are great options for 14-16 and 16+ students. They are now also running leadership programmes through Esports for children as young as 11! There are many career options associated with Esports and its field of work that will continue to evolve and grow. Why not include it within P8/A8 scores whilst we're at it? Having watched the skills my son has developed through esports and the transferable nature of them, to me it seems sensible to make esports a more prominent part of the curriculum. The aim of my weekly “what if” question is to: ✅ Stimulate conversation ✅ Create connection ✅ Share ideas 👍🏻Like | ⌨️Comment | 🏷️Tag | ♻️Share Over to you!
