I spent the day out in the field with Nina Samyn, Sales Consultant at Rentokil Initial, Best Belux Sales overall of 2023. Reflecting on the experience, I've come away with some valuable insights: 1. Flexibility is key In the world of B2B sales, every day presents new challenges and opportunities. Nina exemplified how crucial it is to adapt and remain flexible in order to thrive in this dynamic environment. 2. Passion for the company: It became evident to me throughout the day just how important it is to genuinely believe in the company you work for. What's your job? Last week, I started my new "job" as Managing Consultant at Pepper Foster Consulting. Which, of course, elicits the question - what is my job? Here is what I have learned about my new job as a Management Consultant in the past 9 days: When a financial institution realizes that their vision needs more inspiration and that they have been building "strategy" based on what to do, not where they want to go and who they want to be... MY JOB is to design an executive workshop to shift their relationship to defining strategy, leading change and leading their teams into the unknown. When one of the countries largest CPG companies has taken the big risk of growth through acquisition and wants to reap the rewards of an integrated manufacturing system.... MY JOB is to assess the efficacy of their training strategy and close the gaps for today and set them up for owning their success of the future. What's my job? Who knows!?! What I do know is that it took one coffee with Nathan Caskey talking about building creative solutions to gnarly problems, being insatiably curious about the human experience of work, and our shared love of seeing possibility and bringing it to life to jump with both feet into this new world.

👉And Humera Ma'am cleared the mess, said my team. 👉On Friday, the teamleader complained the project leader about the Jr onboard officers, asking team, if the team is interested in joining their organization and be part of them. 👉And there was a big conflict, between the project leaders and Jr on board officers. 👉My internal team learned about it and called to inform. 👨🍼I recieved a call from the senior officer, and the officer said, Humera I was present there only. I didn't knew this matter will become so big. 🤷♀️I Said, Sir, there might some misunderstanding in communication that happened between the teamleaders and the on board officers, and as they didn't understand, they might had spoken something and the project leader understood something. 👉Let's drop it here. And focus on completing the job. 🧑🍼And the officer Said, yes, yes, please Let's move ahead from here. 🤷♀️I called the project leader and asked, you knew I am travelling, this you people create in my absence? 💁♂️And the project leader shared the matter. 🧏♀️I said, call the senior officer and talk to him. And make sure the jobs are done smoothly and let the team work on sunday as well. 👉Only 20% is remaining. Exit Maersk / Enter Nilfisk I’m excited to share that I’m joining the Global Customer Insights team at Nilfisk. “What the heck is Nilfisk?”, some have asked me the past month as I told them about my next move. Or “I’m sure it’s an exciting opportunity since you’ve accepted it”, said with a hint of question mark at the end. Ok, let’s get the facts right, then the reason why this role feels just right.   Nilfisk is a leading company within professional cleaning equipment. It’s a Danish company, with an international culture and a broad global presence (first ✔ ).   Then: ☑ I’ll be joining a small team with big ambitions. The company is at an exciting point, more eager than ever to build products and experiences that actually fit into the worlds of their users (think Tetris, it’s all about spotting the relevant empty slots instead of forcing your T-shaped block into a square-spaced free spot - thanks Jimmy Ege Pedersen for that analogy) ☑ The chance to turn insights into action faster than I’ve been used to, thanks to a short distance between the insights team and the product and customer experience teams ☑ A physical product you can actually see in action. And where there’s an opportunity to make users’ work lives easier and less physically straining. ☑ The fact that my new team buys into my broader skillset (back to making work cross paths with words)   And oh, I really look forward to also do some onsite fieldwork after a bit of an overdose on virtual user interviews the past couple of years. “You’ll get to see places like the ‘Glostrup of Paris’”, my new boss Martin Troelsgaard laughingly said when we talked about fieldwork (those of you in Denmark will understand that this is not exactly a positive thing).   Here’s my POV: nothing beats being out there with the people who actually use the product and see how the product fits (or doesn’t) into the users’ lives. And as for the Glostrup of Paris: It’s all about being appreciative of the quirky sides of life.   Finally, thanks to all the people who have offered their support, network, and perspective these past couple of months. You made a difference.

Last Friday, I had the chance to attend Ritu G. Mehrish's session on Transform Your Career Journey in Atlas Copco as part of the #NeverStopLearningFestival SE-Asia & Oceania Region.   Thinking my career as a road trip helps me to figure out how I can achieve my dream destination (my career goal). As Ritu mentioned, it is normal to discover multiple routes, exploring different career paths before we realized what we actually want to do. Also, roadblocks as temporary challenges that may hinder us from achieving our goal on time, either because, we are not yet prepared or because we still have a lot to learn. However, nothing can stop us from achieving our goals as long as we are persistent and goal-driven.   As someone who recently graduated and just started my career journey, I know that I still have a long way to go, but then, I believe that setbacks are just temporary, taking risks, being optimistic and having trust and confidence within yourself will help you succeed in your career. "We cannot lower the mountain, therefore we must elevate ourselves" - Todd Skinner 🗻 In July & August I spent 2 full months in the mountains and worked in my summer job as an #internationalmountainleader. What at first glance sounds like something completely different from my main job as a Business Excellence Consultant for the Learning Organization, actually has a lot in common. Some things only appear much more vividly and clearly in the mountains. 🔍 Let me share my personal 3 learnings/parallels 💡 that I discovered during summer and that I will take with me for the next projects back at Siemens: ⭐ #Teamwork makes the dream work! 🙏 The bigger a challenge seems, the more it helps to face it as a team. It doesn't matter whether you're walking across the Alps or have to deal with a complex, crossfunctional project - if we support each other and bring together all of our individual strength and skills, we increase the chances of success for everyone involved (and have a lot more fun 🎉) ⭐ #Communication is key! 💬 Guiding a group of people with different backgrounds, experience levels and skills on narrow paths and in fall-prone, wire-roped terrain requires clear commands. Especially when the weather conditions are changing quickly and the going gets tough, the group has to work well and everyone has to know exactly what to do. ⭐ Nobody is perfect. 🤷♀️ We are all humans and we all make mistakes. The earlier we realize & admit it, the less impact it has. It doesn't help anyone if we end up at the wrong hut at the end of the hike because I was too proud to admit we took a wrong turn. #failureculture Overall I had two amazing, also challenging, but mostly wonderful & rewarding months in the probably nicest "office" in the world and I want to thank my great team Britt Liebelt, Jannis Hövermann, Daniela Pankratz, Tobias Thiesbrummel & Sina Schneider for daring this experiment, for covering my absence & therefore giving me the chance to integrate this passion in my professional career.
