Refugees are not just numbers - they are mothers, fathers, and children. Since conflict broke out in Sudan last April, more than 8.8 million people have had to flee their homes. In search of safety, many families have been forced to make the long trek to neighboring countries, like Chad and South Sudan. When they arrive, they are often malnourished, distressed, ill, and injured. Action Against Hunger is working to support refugees displaced by the conflict, by providing vital nutrition and healthcare. On #WorldRefugeeDay, there are more refugees in the world than ever before. Displacement in #Gaza, #Sudan, and #Ukraine drive millions to hunger. In mid-2023, 110 million people worldwide were displaced, and 43.3 million of them --- or 40% --- were children under 18. By now, that number has risen even higher. Action Against Hunger works closely with refugees to help them rebuild their lives. Many of our staff members are #refugees themselves. Every day, we work to prevent and treat malnutrition, provide mental health services, improve access to water and sanitation, and support displaced people, wherever they end up. As conflict in Gaza, Sudan, and Ukraine rages on, our teams face the displacement crisis head-on.

After 7 months of conflict in Sudan, thousands have been killed and over 6 million people are displaced, including 3 million children, which makes it the largest child displacement crisis in the world. Millions don’t have food, water, shelter and other essential items to survive. Increased humanitarian access and further funding is urgently needed to reach desperate people. And above all, violence must stop. More from the united-nations-ocha: https://lnkd.in/d3RqURAc

Over 1 million people have fled Sudan and more than 6 million people have been internally displaced within the country. Those leaving Sudan have fled to Chad, Egypt, Ethiopia, and South Sudan, where agencies like JRS have been providing support and relief to the displaced populations. JRS offers three ways that you can help those who have been forced to flee from the conflict in Sudan: 1. Give: To accommodate the influx of refugees, an urgent and emergency fund is needed for early response. JRS will continue being present where the needs are greatest 2. Learn: Follow along with our colleagues in the region who continue to provide regular updates. 3. Pray: Visit our prayer resource page to pray for no more loss of life as a result of the war in Sudan. Take action here: https://ow.ly/ay1j50QW0LN

Read this troubling UN post and consider this: Where are the angry hordes in the streets, the millions of hateful social media posts, the offended pundits, the concerned artists, the engaged politicians? And all the other sanctimonious hypocrites? Where are the UN condemnations and resolutions? Where is Gutierrez? Question: What does the Gaza conflict have to get such disproportionate media coverage and such planetary mobilisation? A: ✡️ . B: 🇮🇱 . C: Both of the above. Q.E.D. When discussing this with your kids, your friends, your colleagues, ask them about this sickening double standard.

It's been 1 year since violent conflict broke out in #Sudan and millions of children’s lives were torn apart and changed forever. One year of unimaginable loss, of physical and emotional distress, and of prevalent violations of children’s rights: ⚠️ Over 15,000 people have been reportedly killed. ⚠️ Over 4 million children are now displaced - the largest child displacement crisis in the world. ⚠️ Nearly 5 million people are one step away from famine. ⚠️ 1 in 2 children have been within 5 km of the frontline of the conflict over the past year - the highest rate of child exposure in the world. This all comes as Sudan was already facing its worst-ever humanitarian crisis, with 1 in 2 people needing assistance. Despite the staggering levels of need, this crisis is not getting the attention it deserves. Support our life-saving work in Sudan and across the world ➡ https://bit.ly/3vQ6vyq

📣 *And the answer is… Ethiopia* Ethiopia has been facing multiple emergencies amid critical levels of underfunding. *Here are 5 things you should know.* 1️⃣The conflict in Sudan has displaced *nearly 8M people*, over 100,000 people have fled to Ethiopia. 2️⃣Most of the newly arrived Sudanese refugees are *women and children*, dealing with trauma and facing harsh conditions. 3️⃣Ethiopia’s Somali region has also experienced a *continued influx* of refugees from Laascaanood, Somalia. 4️⃣Ethiopia shelters nearly *1M refugees and 3.5M internally displaced people*. 5️⃣Ethiopia is *one of the most underfunded* UNHCR operations globally. In the humanitarian sector, every day brings a new crisis or disaster. One year on from the onset of the conflict in #Sudan, over 9.4 million people have been displaced, half of whom are children. In 2024, over 25 million are in need of humanitarian assistance; more than one-third of the country’s population is facing acute hunger and potential famine. In the midst of the world's largest internal displacement crisis, these figures serve as a sobering reminder to keep #eyesonsudan and to continue advocating for an immediate cessation of hostilities and additional funding to meet the needs of conflict-affected communities across the country.
Over one year since the conflict erupted in Sudan, the devastation is showing no signs of slowing down. With every week that passes, thousands of families are being forced to uproot and flee. So far, more than 8 million people, half of them children, have been displaced within #Sudan and to neighboring countries. Relief International continues doing vital work, calling for solidarity and support grows. The organization urges us all that the time to act is now.

🚨 Heartbreaking News from Sudan 🚨 The devastating impact of war is being felt deeply in Sudan. A recent report by Save the Children reveals that in just four months, at least 498 children have tragically lost their lives to starvation, with the actual number likely being much higher. Before the war, one in three Sudanese already faced hunger. Now, with ongoing conflict, children are suffering the most severe consequences. The situation is further exacerbated as aid organizations, including Save the Children, face challenges in delivering essential services. It's a stark reminder of the human cost of conflict and the urgent need for peace and humanitarian support. Let's raise awareness and stand in solidarity with the people of Sudan. #SudanCrisis #SaveTheChildren #HumanitarianCrisis #africa #savelives #sudanconflict
