https://lnkd.in/e2Ji7yZm MODU: CHAPTER I PRELUDE It is the year 1953. Conflicts have been brewing worldwide for some time, encompassing various sectors of the economy and territorial disputes. Many countries are on high alert, anticipating a potential global sociopolitical crisis. The involvement of previously overlooked pro-environmental institutions has become imperative to mitigate resource scarcity and the planet Earth's deterioration. Numerous countries are hastily forming alliances, with not everyone making it into the first group, leading to the emergence of a second. All prior alliances are crumbling rapidly. Both groups of countries are at odds over their interests. Although they publicly announce mutual agreements to resolve their differences and reassert human survival as a common objective, many people remain skeptical about their leaders intentions due to several scandals. The existence of an organization operating at the highest echelons of every government worldwide is now public knowledge. They claim to be ensuring the well-being of their people. Rumors suggest that they have been actively intervening in each national department for an extended period, preparing for the impending crisis. #illustration #illustrations #illustrationart #illustrationoftheday #illustrationartists #illustrationgram #illustrationartist #illustrationwork #dystopian #dystopia #dystopianproject #dystopianfuture #art #artist #artwork #arte #artoftheday #artistic

20 things you may not know about me 1. I have 2 Art history degrees 2. I used to write on Mediaeval Art 3. I was brought up on a wine estate 4. But hated wine until well into my 20s 5. I became a designer with art catalogues 6. I designed my first catalogue on a Mac Classic 7. I became a brand designer freelancing in London 8. Then became a designer for film festivals and institutions 9. I was the main designer for the London Palestine Film Festival for years 10. That's how I know so much about the plight of Palestine & have it to heart 11. My father fought in the Resistance as a teenager in occupied Italy 12. My grandfather rescued Jews & others at risk in occupied Milan 13. They both risked life, limb, livelihood, reputation to save others 14. They both taught me to be pro-Israel, pro-EU, pro-peace 15. They both taught me to speak up against genocide 16. They both taught me to speak up against injustice 17. I'm a UX designer because I want to help others 18. I believe in accessibility, diversity, equity 19. I’ll start talking about UX again, but: 20. Never again is RIGHT NOW. Feel free to talk to me if this post stirs you in any way, either positively or negatively. I have thought about this long and hard and I'd like to think I wouldn't have stayed silent during other horrors, just like my family taught me. That's why I am pretty sure where I stand on this one. Very well documented post by Paul Biggar: https://lnkd.in/e5gdWTzV Followed by the Tech for Palestine initiative: https://lnkd.in/eKVMh_NW Image description: a few printed programs for the 2012 London Palestine Film Festival fanned out. The main image is of two hands pretending to be a lens, framing an eye. It has a concentric circle graphic on top and a red/ black duotone treatment to enhance the drama. #CeaseFireNow #NeverAgain #SilenceIsComplicity

The Secretariat and the Executive Board of AMIMUN'24 are excited to unveil a dynamic and creative agenda for our International Press (IP) delegates. We are set to explore the realms of '𝐏𝐡𝐨𝐭𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐡𝐲, 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐉𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐦’, three pillars that hold the power to change perceptions, provoke thought, and document truth. In an era where the pen and the lens are mightier than ever, our IP committee will navigate the intricate dance of imagery and words. Photography captures moments that speak volumes, caricatures distill complex narratives into powerful art, and journalism weaves the thread that connects individual stories to the tapestry of human experience. We challenge our delegates to step into the shoes of artists and storytellers who hold the mirror up to society, reflecting its beauty and its flaws. This agenda is an invitation to critique, to create, and to communicate—to embody the spirit of a world that is increasingly visual and interconnected. Join us as we celebrate the freedom of expression and the role of media in shaping our world. Your insights and creativity are the lenses through which we can envision a more informed and empathetic society. #AMIMUN24 #InternationalPress #VisualStorytelling #journalismmatters #caricaturist #photographylovers

Calling an image by many names لقراءة هذه النشرة باللغة العربيّة، اضغطوا هنا We can admire a photographic object simply for its materiality and what it stimulates in us. We can appreciate a lot more the complexity of the object if we try to understand the universe in which it was created and the motivation behind its existence. What a photographer may have intended is not necessarily what an archivist records as part of organising objects into archives, or what a writer or researcher may interpret in defining style and context. It is the links generated along the way and the build-up of contributions that can potentially expand our understanding and invite us to generate new meanings. It takes a community to preserve and read the nuances in a photographic object and yet it may be the imagination of one person to piece all the details together and offer an enticing perspective. The more imagination we can stimulate, the more photographs we can bring to life; each time with an additional layer of meaning.

After getting back from seven weeks of shooting, I'd accumulated a huge number of images and then set about trying to work out what to do with them. The problem was the project I had ended up making was in large part about the false structures of the history, and the way we cherry pick details to justify the narratives that interest us. I found it hard to see how I could make a work which didn't just end up doing the same thing. I’m currently sharing bits from my project and book The Memory of History (2012) which looked at the re-emergence of unresolved history in the context of the 2012 European Euro and sovereign debt crisis. #politics #experimental #photobookjousting #photobook #design #photography #euro #eurozone #crisis #documentary

#ThankGodItsFriday Join me on a journey through the mesmerizing world of art that I experienced at the solo exhibition by Mr. Femi Simpson. As soon as I stepped into the gallery, I was greeted by a captivating display of Mr. Femi's talent for storytelling through photography. Mr. Femi has a knack for capturing the essence of beautiful ambience and situational moments in his photographs. Each picture seemed to narrate a unique story, drawing me in with its depth and emotion. It was like experiencing a visual narrative of places and happenings through his lens. What truly amazed me was Mr. Femi's ability to translate these captivating pictures into art on canvas. The way he brought these scenes to life on canvas was nothing short of magical. Each stroke seemed to breathe life into the artwork, creating a masterpiece that depicted visual art at its best. If you're an art collector who appreciates situational works of art, Mr. Femi's creations are a must-have. Whether you're an expatriate or part of the diaspora longing to have a piece of Lagos or Nigeria in your art collection, his artwork speaks volumes. However, amidst the appreciation of artists and their work, there's a concern that lingers in my mind. With the rapid advancements in AI technology, there's a risk of authentic artworks being overshadowed by AI-generated works. This blur between genuine and digital art is something that art lovers and artists alike need to be mindful of. In light of this, I urge those who value genuine works of art to support artists like Mr. Femi Simpson. His dedication to preserving authentic art work is commendable, and I believe that by appreciating genuine art, we can protect and nurture the beauty of artistic expression. If you're looking to experience the magic of genuine art or add a touch of Lagos/Nigeria to your collection, I encourage you to reach out to Mr. Femi Simpson for private or corporate art exhibitions and purchases. ~ D.K.O #dkoconsulting #linkedintopbrandstrategyvoice 📸 📹 Disclaimer: No copyright infringement intended. World Development Information Day 24 October Mobilization of Public Opinion: An essential part of the work on development consists of the mobilization of public opinion in both developing and developed countries in support of set objectives and policies. Governments of the more advanced countries must continue and intensify their endeavors to deepen public understanding of the inter-dependent nature of development efforts, and of the need to assist the developing countries in accelerating their economic and social progress. Similarly, Governments of developing countries must continue to make people at all levels aware of the benefits and sacrifices involved, and to enlist their full participation in achieving the development goals and objectives. The mobilization of public opinion has to be the responsibility mainly of national bodies. Governments may give consideration to the establishment of new national bodies or to strengthening the existing ones designed to mobilize public opinion, as a long-term measure, to give increasing development orientation to the educational curricula. Considering that leadership can make a significant contribution to the mobilization of public opinion, the formulation of concrete aims by the competent authorities is indispensable. The role of the organization of the United Nations has been to assist the various national information media, in particular by supplying adequate basic information from which these media may draw both substance and inspiration for their work. In 1972, the General Assembly established World Development Information Day to draw the attention of the world to development problems and the need to strengthen international cooperation to solve them (resolution 3038(XXVII)). The Assembly decided that the date for the Day should coincide with United Nations Day, 24 October, which was also the date of the adoption, in 1970, of the International Development Strategy for the Second United Nations Development Decade. The Assembly deemed that improving the dissemination of information and the mobilization of public opinion, particularly among young people, would lead to greater awareness of the problems of development, thus, promoting efforts in the sphere of international cooperation for development

As a content strategist and photographer, my mission is to weave narratives that transcend pixels and evoke emotions. Capturing the masked explorer in the vibrant tapestry of Sweave isn't just about a captivating image—it's a visual commitment to spotlighting African culture. Behind the lens, I seek to preserve the essence of each pattern, symbol, and cultural heartbeat embedded in every frame. This photo encapsulates our dedication to leading a cause, where gaming becomes a canvas for celebrating, educating, and weaving the stories of African heritage. The mask isn't just an accessory; it's a symbol of protection and respect for the narratives we showcase. Together, as we unveil Sweave and embark on the cultural odyssey it offers, the photograph serves as a testament to our commitment to crafting meaningful experiences and preserving the beauty of African culture.
