It’s day 5️⃣ of our Stephenson Awards takeover. We’ve been highlighting just some of the people who make Action for Children incredible. From caregivers to volunteers, colleagues to corporate partners. We’re dedicating today to our Supporter Achievement award winners 👏 Meet the people who go above and beyond to support vulnerable children, young people and families... 👉 Alastair has been on the Ultimate News Quiz committee since 2014, an event that has raised over £2 million since it began. “Alastair is unstoppable and constantly striving for more, finding creative and innovative ways of growing potential fundraising. They are so passionate about everything that we do, and have pledged ongoing support with unwavering enthusiasm.” 👉 Kirsty, member of the Carmarthenshire Action Squad, has been described as 'putting monumental effort into fundraising and raising awareness for Action for Children'. Together with Sarah, Aimee and Lauren, they've mobilised friends, family and their local community, appeared on local radio shows to spread awareness and raised £13,500 for one of our local services at an event they organised." 👉 Sam, who grew up in the care system, raises funds each year to provide children in the local area with Christmas gifts. Sam raises the money needed to gift everything from bikes to books by reaching out to local businesses and the community. “Parents and carers always contact us to say the difference it has made to them. Many of our families cannot afford to buy a gift, so this is life changing for them.”

Ultra-high net worth families get as many as 10,000 solicitations for donations every year. It's dizzying to consider the non-stop asks, which require teams of people and processes to manage. From the donors' view, a lot of the pitches sound similar, overlap, and rarely address the full scale of the problem. Hard questions play in their mind, like... "Is this really going to move the needle," or, "Who and what is really needed to solve this problem?," and finally, "I wonder if these folks operating in the same space ever talk to each other?" Meanwhile, Development Officers and other fundraisers are incentivized to collect funds for the organization that pays their salary with little to no view of the larger ecosystem of players needed to solve the problem. And there's almost no chance they'd steer a donor to an organization that is a better fit. I yearn for a day when funds can be deployed through networks of organizations working together to make progress in ways they could not do alone, and in ways that drive the organizations to work together rather than compete for money.

I have seen a few negative articles in the media recently about gift cards, and what happens to the leftover dollars after they expire. While Chuffed Gifts are NOT dollar value gift cards, and the vast majority of Gifts we sell are used at one of our awesome experience partners, there is a small percentage of our gifts that reach the 2-year mark without being used. So, we've set up an alternative outcome. Chuffed Gift recipients now have the choice of five awesome Kiwi charities to donate the value of their gift to: https://lnkd.in/gb-cnK-f We set up Chuffed Gifts to be an incredible gift with a great outcome for all, and this is the next step in that direction.

PAUSE ⏸️ & take a minute to stop doing your day job, watch this video and whether it’s this important topic or something more personal to you, reflect on what really matters in life?
Meals & More has reported a huge increase in demand, as families face some of the toughest conditions since it began. The charity delivered record levels of support over the summer, as it sought to assist vulnerable families struggling in the face of the cost-of-living crisis. Meals and More helped 270 holiday clubs, provided more than 250,000 meals and extended its Big Day Out programme, which helps to give children an enriching experience over the summer holidays. This year, more than 2,000 children were given the opportunity to enjoy a Big Day Out. Peter McGrath, Operations Director at Meals & More, said: “I’m very proud of the support that Meals & More has delivered this year, but equally disappointed that we still must. We are so grateful that our supporters continue to fund us so generously, as without their donations we would not be able to help the tens of thousands of children that we do." I feel very lucky to work with the hospitality industry. It such a collaborative and fun sector to be involved in. What never ceases to amaze me about those in the industry, is that, despite the widely reported and significant challenges the sector continues to face, they remain committed to regularly coming together to support great causes, whether or not related to hospitality. Last week, Clarke & Son Solicitors again took part in the annual Drinks Trade Regatta, which raised a significant sum for charity. On 6th June we will be taking part in the London Bridge Walk, organised by our friends at Beds and Bars Group. This year, the walk will raise funds for AWARE Scotland. AWARE Scotland is a charity that believe that all children, regardless of their life experience, backgrounds and needs, have the right to happiness and the opportunity to self-develop. They help the most in need to achieve their full potential as valued members of the community. AWARE Scotland provide supported respite breaks focused on physical activity, mental wellbeing, social awareness and fun. Their unique experiences are designed to build confidence and engender lifelong friendships. Their respite care, tailors their activities for the needs of those with additional support requirements, to provide a diverse and inclusive environment for all. I have seen first-hand, the significant difficulties some of my friends face when it comes to finding activities suitable for children with additional needs. With the pandemic and challenging economic conditions, investment into existing and new services is severely depleted. Charities like AWARE Scotland have always played an important role in helping and developing the lives of young people, but their role is becoming increasingly critical to a greater number. Young people today are facing challenges and difficulties we had hoped had been consigned to the past. It has been widely reported that Millennials and Gen Z are likely to be the first generations worse off than their parents. Alarmingly, 2023 statistics showed 30% of children in the UK were living in child poverty and The Resolution Foundation has estimated that, in the short term at least, the number of people in the UK living in absolute poverty will continue to rise, reaching 12 million in 2024/25. Even those not in the direst positions are having to adapt. The sharp increase in cost of living has forced many families to cut back on discretionary spending, including activities and holidays. Looking forward, young people today are faced with increased costs of living and education, higher student and other debt, rents at unprecedented levels and house prices continuing to inflate. I know many of you reading this will have charities and good causes which you support. If you would like to help support this wonderful organisation, any donation, no matter how small, will be appreciated. Plus, I will be stuck with Alex May for the day. Surely that deserves something?
🗓️ On the 6th June, William Anderson and Alex May will join Beds and Bars Group for their Bridge Walk to support Aware Scotland. Aware Scotland believes all young people, regardless of their background, deserve happiness and opportunities for self-development. Their vision is to help those in need achieve their full potential through supported respite breaks and days out focused on physical activity, mental well-being, and fun. Helping organisations use their data to improve retention, motivation and satisfaction - among staff, members and clients
This is a new experience - being embedded into a client feedback slide deck - thanks Victoria King! The key highlight from this project though - their enviable results aside (!) - is just how open Plus Accounting, Chartered Accountants were, and are, to improving and growing the service they offer their clients. This project has not only been a boost internally, with some great feedback for various members of the team, it's also given them some fantastic ideas to help make their clients even happier - from processes to marketing, content to event ideas and more. Celebrations aside (!) - we all know a survey isn't the be-all and end-all of research. But it can be a great place to begin, a conversation starter, a door-opener as such. Asking the right questions, that really deliver valuable insight, is crucial - as is doing detailed analysis of the results, and acting on the findings. So if you're a leader who wants to get into the nitty-gritty of what your clients (customers, employees, members) feel about your organisation, why not get in touch? Think of it as a way to: - amplify those 'water cooler' employee chats that maybe you're not hearing enough about; - receive feedback from customers who perhaps live further afield and you've not heard from in a while; - ask questions to those clients you feel estranged from, as you no longer talk to them as regularly as your account teams... The downside? It'll take some commitment on your side to act on the feedback you receive. But how's that a downside if you're making change for good? The upside? Well, have a read of below for starters! #listentoyourclients #learnfromyourclients #actonyourresults #datastorytelling
At Plus Accounting, we are committed to continuously enhancing our services to ensure we meet our clients' needs. To support this effort, we recently conducted a Client Engagement Survey with the help of Bonamy Waddell at Bon Insight. We received a total of 54 responses to our recent Client Engagement Survey, reflecting the active engagement and valuable feedback from our community. Our clients insights are instrumental in helping us improve and grow. As a token of our appreciation, and in alignment with our commitment to social responsibility, we have made a donation to each of our three nominated charities for 2024/25. We are thrilled to announce that we achieved an impressive Net Promoter Score (NPS) of +76! This outstanding score reflects the high level of satisfaction and loyalty our clients have for our services. *List up date.💖🎄 Please share 💖🎄 Yesterday we shopped for a further 9 children from the list leaving 24 children still to be matched to a sponsor/partial sponsor.💖🎄 Thank you to everyone who has donated a prize or bought a ticket for any of the raffles being ran on our behalf by Louise McParland.💖 Our PayPal is caringcoins@gmail.com please choose the family and friends option to avoid charges.💖🎄 For more details on how to sponsor a child please pm the page.💖🎄 *Please Note We do not handle personal or individual pleas. We have worked hard to build trusted working partnerships with organisations/charities, who are in the homes, providing support to families living in severe financial distress/poverty within our community. They know the families stories and their financial standing and they plea on the families behalf, insuring they meet the criteria. Which means the family do not have to be retraumatised by having to tell us why they need our help. We then fundraise, shop and deliver the toys to the partnerships, where we set them out to take pictures which are sent to the parent, so that mum/dad can rest easy at least where Christmas is concerned. The toys are then put into storage by the partnership, until they deliver the toys/vouchers to the family, on their last visit before Christmas. We never know the families names, the only information we request is the child’s age, gender and what they like. With that information, we allocate an amount per child based on age, this helps us gauge how much we need to raise. Just as everyone who supports and donates to our appeals, trusts in us, we trust in our partnerships, that our help is going directly to those who need it most and who are actively engaging in the support programs of these organisations/charities to help better their lives and the lives of their children. 🎄💖
