Happy #Pride Month! This June, we're taking the time to celebrate our friends, family, chosen families, and staff within the LGBTQIA+ community. In health care, taking the time to understand the diverse background and experiences of our clients and patients can aid in providing better care and a safe, respectful, and understanding environment. Creating a more inclusive environment fosters trust and openness, which ultimately contribute to better health outcomes. Today, we honor Juneteenth – a day that marks a pivotal moment in history, the end of slavery in the United States. It’s a time to reflect on the progress made and the journey ahead towards equality and justice for all. Health Advances is using this day not only to celebrate but also to educate and engage in meaningful conversations about diversity, inclusion, and equity. Together, we can create a workplace and society that uplifts every individual, recognizing that our collective strength lies in our diversity. #Juneteenth #FreedomDay #DiversityAndInclusion

This post may contain sensitive and triggering content. World Childless Week 2023 will take place next week from 11th - 17th September. Being childless not by choice (cnbc) is the taboo subject of an unrecognised minority. World Childless Week is there to help the cnbc: validate their emotions, find support, build friendships, realise their own worth and rediscover the confidence to speak out and celebrate themselves as a unique individual. Alongside supporting the childless community World Childless Week hopes to reach out and work towards building bridges between the childless, childfree and parents; raising empathy and removing the stigma of disenfranchised grief. Of the women who reached the age of 45 years in 2020, 18% were childless at the end of their childbearing years compared to 10% a generation before (Office for National Statistics). In addition, the ONS reports that for the first time, half of women (50%) born in 1990 (the most recent cohort to reach age 30 years) remained childless by their 30th birthday. This is of particular significance as the median age of mother at first birth in the UK is 30 and so predicts a growing number of women remaining permanently without children in the decades to come. In the UK workplace, the Noon.org.uk research found that almost a third of professional women aged 45-60 have no children (60% childless/40% childfree). And whilst the focus on non-parenthood tends to focus on women, the numbers of men without children are similar or even higher. Data relating to Individuals who don’t conform to a traditional binary gender type (male or female) tends not to be reported. The lifesaving and life‐changing power of connection cannot be underestimated. Each day will explore a different element of being childless. This year’s topics are: Our Stories, Childless Stepparent, A Letter to the Person who Hurt Me the Most, Childless in the Media, You’re So Lucky to not have Kids (comments that hurt), We Are Worthy and Moving Forwards. Please help me to raise awareness, encourage more inclusive discussion, and provide support for those who are grieving childlessness, or who feel excluded from social groups and workplace culture. https://lnkd.in/ghpn3nbU

Diversity and taking a people centered approach is fundamental to providing equitable healthcare. Initiatives like this, doctors like Onye Nnorom and those participating in this incredible initiative need to be recognized for their commitment to disrupt a system that we know is inequitable. Keep shining Sis ✨ #representationmatters #healthcarungdifferently
