I feel like this advice is valid for anyone at any age. I tell my 5 kids this stuff almost daily. I was at a Sam's club over the weekend and I had to move out of the way for an automated aisle sweeper to get by. As I moved, a man joked that the robot "took someone's job" and laughed. My response was: Well at least this one shows up for work! Do you show up? If you have a history of no call / no showing for your jobs... when does that end? When do you commit to being better for yourself and your situation? In the current landscape of driver recruiting, it's clear that HR departments often lead the initial stages of resume and application gathering. However, this process sometimes focuses too heavily on candidates who "check all the boxes" rather than finding the best fit for the role. Many of us in the industry face the "over-qualified syndrome," where our extensive experience, expertise, work ethic, and passion may be perceived as a threat.
