Community solar is set to take off, but how will all of these new projects be managed? Developers and installers becoming victims of their own success, struggling to maintain growing portfolios with a small team, is a situation we've seen more than once. There are two factors in particular that contribute to this: - Under-budgeting for OpEx - A shortage of qualified PV technicians This makes low-noise alerting, accurate performance modeling, and cloud-native controls even more important. Georgia is consistently in the top 10 solar producing states in the U.S. Georgians are often surprised by this fact (and also that we're currently the #2 manufacturer of solar panels in the U.S. - orders of magnitude above the 14 other facilities). This summer I plan to explore Georgia's strengths and weaknesses in being an innovator in solar technology deployment.
