At the June Open Meeting, we: • proposed reporting requirements aimed to improve internet routing security and help protect America's networks against cyberattacks. • adopted a $200 million cybersecurity pilot program for schools and libraries to explore how Universal Service Fund support could help protect them from cyber threats. • proposed updated rules to offer greater flexibility in supporting providers’ deployment of high-speed internet services in high-cost, rural communities. https://lnkd.in/eKtdBy5c

Via the Table of Contents, click Item 1C. Cybersecurity 5. Read Interesting items to look for: - Does a CISO or CIO lead the cybersecurity efforts at the company? - BONUS: Search LinkedIn for that person to see if they really exist (I've found some that do not) or have the experience that's referenced (also found some lacking) - Do they have a Board committee that oversees cybersecurity? If so, go read that company's committee's charter to look for their responsibility for it. - Is there a standard like NIST CSF referenced or cited as followed? #themoreyouknow #cisolife #cybersecurity #riskmanagement #secreporting

One that I am watching & waiting: how the #fcc #cybersecurity #pilotprogram proceeds for #K12 & #Libraries as well as some other type of program to continue the work of the #ecf program. I don't believe #SelfAssessments are the problem here, despite what some might suggest. #Cyber #TPRM I think the problem might have more to do with #Governance*, #Accountability and #Ownership, rather the likely lack of these at the third-party assuming the allegations in the lawsuit are true.
