Last week's #WorldOceansDay brought a latest live-streaming event in the Newday Impact Investing media series. Co-hosted by Ashlan Cousteau, the 90 minute Coastal-Adaptation-Blueprint symposium gathered experts and innovators of solutions in marine environments from both US Coasts. VIDEO:  https://lnkd.in/dKxptRgU In the initial panel discussion NOAA Sanctuaries Superintendent Maria Brown tells us about the current health of iconic West Coast marine systems. The engaging storyteller Natasha Benjamin shares some additional context from her recent experience in filming "Sequoias of the Sea".  Christopher Chin of The Center for Oceanic Awareness, Research, and Education (COARE) breaks down the concerning life cycle of plastic waste in the oceans, and we learn how their organizational efforts have led to a UN treaty to end plastic pollution.  The second panel looked at coastal restoration efforts and that impact on blue economies. Christopher Oakes, CEO of Reefgen, introduces us to his groundbreaking company that's mechanizing polyculture farming equipment for the sea, while also demonstrating a completely different angle at regenerative ocean farming. Dave Randle connects a few dots in explaining how investments in nature-based solutions has had lasting and real impact on Florida's tourism industry, which interestingly enough, embraces the love for the unique cultures that live within coastal communities. Dave alludes to this being a good rule of thumb for having a positive impact anywhere that folks take pride in their place. With nearly half the world's population living within shouting distance of the coast, it's clear that conjuring up enough love to adapt quickly changing places absolutely needs greater awareness and engagement everywhere!  Also joining this panel is dynamic spokesman and Managing Biologist at "Sea and Shoreline", Carter Henne who shares success stories from seagrass restoration solutions in Florida's coastal environments. As with the firm's media events that came before, Douglas Heske of Newday offers a look at developments a bit further upstream where nature-based solutions to environmental and social problems will impact companies and society in the future.  Newday Impact builds Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) that elicit positive actions by publicly traded companies. The very influence of their legendary environmental & social advocates elevates Newday to a different category of Impact. With their initial ETF (AHOY) the team manages a stock portfolio of public companies with a track-record of actions that benefit the oceans.  Additional ETFs will focus on the firm's complementary domain expertise in: Air, Soil, Biodiversity, Equity and Carbon. This Suite of Ecological-Investments will provide quantifiable values-based returns that are unique across impact offerings. Tune in to this interesting forum to learn what impact investing can look like, and how it can benefit what you love!
