Here's a proud mama moment & a leadership lesson all rolled into one. My son Asher was selected to play basketball at the Maccabi Games in Detroit this summer. He'll be on a team with his peers, playing a sport he loves. The part I'm most excited about has nothing to do with basketball. It's about the magic moments when the kids are experiencing all the highs, lows and in between emotions together. It's in the down time between games when they will bond, learn, share and laugh. They'll get to shrug off their student postures and just be teens. These connections will continue to grow over time. This is the same reason companies need to create community through offsites and facilitator run programs. It's about the magic moments when the teams are experiencing all the highs, lows and in between emotions together. It's in the down time between deadlines and putting out fires that they will bond, learn, share and laugh. Employees need to shrug off their work personas, roles, and hierarchy and just connect as humans. These connections will continue to grow over time. Reflections in The Mirror Sometimes when I catch a glimpse of myself on Zoom or maybe just a reflection in the window as I pass by, I see this older looking face looking back at me. “No wonder people think of me as a dinosaur”, I chuckle to myself. Far from it. Still so much energy and passion. I know with age comes wisdom. Things I absolutely would have done differently in my career. Others scenarios that I know quite confidently I did good work. The right thing for kids. There is an opportunity every single day to reflect on what’s yours to own and what you need to let go of. That’s particularly true in non-profit management. Some days, some weeks, some months felt like never ending personnel or board drama. We’ve all been there. We have all shuttered at recalling the “Board President from Hell.” Do your best. Stay focused on the mission. Own it when you‘ve acted unwisely or unfairly. And toss the rest in the “Chuck It Bucket.” As I retire for the third time, I realize how truly blessed I have been in my career and I remain passionate about our community. Passionate about children, youth and families. Certain there is so much more to be done. If there is every a special project I can help tackle, please feel free to reach out at to me. My strengths are Achiever, Strategic, Focus. I have the ability to not just dream, but actually get things done. A rare combination. I have a wealth of leadership experience in nonprofit management, public policy, board development, strategic planning, grant writing and grant management. Not looking for any full-time gig, just an offer to help out my community where I can. And I also wanted to thank everyone who has been a part of my professional journey. I have learned from the absolute best.

Who we are: KM was started by Travis Fitzwater, a non-profit manager, state legislator, homeschooling #girldad, married to a saint of a wife, #entreprenur obsessed with new media over the last 18+ years. What are we: A media company focused on #contentcreation, mainly #podcasting in long form to be repurposed for short form in a funnel that directs attention to your call to action. When did we start: Travis spent a ton of money falling on his face as early as 2007 as a media entrepreneur. He spent thousands of dollars on education into internet marketing with an interest in grappling for success in the social media landscape. He quit his comfortable job mid-2023 to pursue his vision for a media company that would produce meaningful content around the intersection of faith, leadership, and business. Where are we: We are stationed in the heart of Missouri. Why are we focused on media: There is endless demand for content. We have skills in creating content. 2+2 doesn't have to be difficult to answer. Travis gets asked all the time advice on creating content. It became evident that his experience and skills would be well utilized as an entrepreneur helping others utilize media well while partnering with people and brands he believes in.

Nearly 365 days ago, I made this post about App State 🏈 What's funny is that this post, which has nothing to do with my job in #Sales, the #NonprofitCommunity, or any big new insight, was my top-performing LinkedIn post based on impressions gained in the past 365 days. The lesson is simple 💡 Here on Linkedin we love value-adds, insights, opinions, etc. but the thing we love to engage with the most is a "shared experience". Why did this post perform so well?... Because 10k+ people here on LinkedIn experienced the same feeling I had nearly 12 months ago 👉 The excitement behind an underdog story. #NonprofitLeaders, want to get more donors more involved in your mission? Highlight shared experiences and invite them to participate. #BuildBetter

Friends, I need your assistance and it might stretch your comfort zone a bit. Every day on LinkedIn I see content from people with a call to action to HELP and SUPPORT by clicking their link. Sometimes the link is information about a product they are selling or something they are fundraising for. The stories and content that go along with these CTA's are moving to me, make me want to help. Often these stories break my heart and bring tears to my eyes because there are a lot of people struggling out there. So, I am moved to help by clicking their link or sharing their story. But I have found that is not the norm, most people look away quickly when they thinks someone needs or wants something from them. STOP looking away from the people asking for your support and help, instead lean in to do what you can. Click the GOOD LINKS! Share the GOOD POSTS! Support the DOERS and the CHANGE MAKERS!
