Skill execution and command: Calling all players and coaches Do you know enough about why the ball you are planning on bowling, which has been identified as the best ball to bowl at that given time in the game behaves the way it does Do you know enough about the laws of physics and aerodynamics I will cover terminologies such as A. Magnus effect B. Reverse Magnus effect C. Seam shifted wake D. Vorticity E. Boundary layer F. Laminar G. Turbulent When you present a seam up delivery the only thing you can consciously control is the placement in the fingers, the grip, the action of the wrist and fingers and then proprioception and feel take over on release. After that it’s down to aerodynamics. I actually believe accuracy is a feel thing and you have that ability. People can go on about the best death bowlers practice etc but they were already identified as death bowlers so clearly had that ability and I suggest practice via explicit methods such as cone bowling has made them worse. No hard data, just a view . I bowled a yorker better than most during my time , that’s what kept me in some outstanding teams I played for, and I never once practiced it except for in a game scenario . Again, just saying But my Yorker did do something different. It dipped more than other death bowlers. Not reverse swing as such. But dipped in. I believe because I had a poor release and wrist position I didn’t spin the ball back to create the Magnus effect, my deliveries spun slower which has been identified as a key cause of the reverse magnus. Looking back at my time with more knowledge and experience. The quality of delivery and skill execution are the result of forces acting in the ball. Most know about swing, majority know about reverse swing, some may know about the Magnus effect. The prep work is used to get the athlete mentally and physically ready, prior to performing the bigger drills. We did six prep drills on the day. The six drills covered: one touch passing, directional touches to space, single leg stability, movement off the ball, awareness/rhythm/timing, and speed/power/change of direction. You can almost use reverse engineering when programming. Think about the theme of your session. What are the main drills your client wants to work on? Then you can add in the necessary prep drills at the beginning, which will set the athlete up for success later in the workout. #soccer #football #soccertraining #soccerdrills #rcperformancetraining

Repetition without repetition The beauty of the @pacelablimited training system is the VARIABILITY that exists in the programming Bowlers improve, not by repeating, but by using different tools that overload part or whole of the bowling sequence in a slightly different way. Its value is in allowing the bowler to rehearse adjustments. Remember, you can’t repeat your mechanics, so you need to adjust your movement on the fly to be an elite bowler . The quicker you can adjust, the more efficient your movement will be. When you learn to adjust rapidly, you bowl faster , more accurately, and reduce your injurious sheer forces’ exposure. The concept of fatigue-induced learning, particularly in sports like bowling, revolves around the idea that fatigue can enhance motor patterns and improve performance. Here’s a small extract from the Foundation course. Module on transfer of training and the techniques to use. Including complex training, pre fatiguing exercises, BFR training and tempo training. Integrating fatigue into training can create unique motor stimuli that enhance muscle and tendon interaction, leading to better performance. The challenge lies in managing fatigue levels to optimise motor learning without compromising technique.
