I'm 5 days late but that doesn't take away from the importance of yoga for those living with Parkinson's disease. Today is Global Running Day - and to spread more awareness for Parkinson's disease and the Parkinson's Foundation I ran a 5K this morning. Obviously I'm not runner based on my time LOL but what's important is: - The other runners and cars I passed this morning in my Parkinson's t-shirt to help spread awareness - The 7.1 people who were diagnosed with Parkinson's during my run. Every 6 minutes someone in diagnosed with Parkinson's disease which means 90,000 people per year (in the US) are diagnosed - Just 2.5 hours of exercise per week is proven to slow the progression of Parkinson's disease. So I encourage you today, on Global Running Day, to get out and move! Put on your Parkinson's Revolution or Moving Day t-shirt and walk/run/jog in your neighborhood or on the treadmill at the gym. On March 29, 2023 this Act was reintroduced to the House and Senate. Then on December 14, 2023 the Act was passed through the U.S. House of Representatives. Now, on May 23 (yesterday!) the U.S. Senate passed the National Plan to End Parkinson's Act. This is the FIRST-EVER federal legislation dedicated to ending Parkinson's disease. It now awaits President Biden's signature to move the bill into law. Such a monumental moment in the word of Parkinson's. Here is what the bill is designed to do: - Dramatically increase federal research funding - Develop more effective pathways for treatments and cures - Improve early diagnosis - Spark new and improved models for patient care - Create standards and measures to prevent Parkinson's disease - Address health disparities in diagnosis, treatment and clinical trial participation - Enhance public awareness of the disease The Parkinson's Foundation (& myself as the daughter of someone living with Parkinson's disease) looks forward to working alongside the MJFF and other leaders in the PD space. #developmentsinparkinsons #parkinsonsfunding #parkinsonsresearch #parkinsonscare

My family also participated in the PD GENEration study. It was so helpful to learn more about my dad's diagnosis.
