Big things are coming for our community! Our Executive Director, Sheila Womble, recently attended the first hard hat tour of the soon-to-be Lotus Children’s Village where Arts For Learning/Miami will have a satellite office and provide visual and performing arts classes to neighborhood students! The Lotus Children’s Village space will be shared and activated by LOTUS HOUSE WOMEN'S SHELTER , Easterseals with Barry University, URGENT, Inc., OVERTOWN OPTIMIST CLUB, Legal Services of Greater Miami, Inc., The Alliance for LGBTQ Youth, Children's Bereavement Center, Girl Power Rocks, Mindful Kids Miami, Inc., Nana’s restart, and Overtown Children And Youth Coalition. #A4LMiami #Arts4Learning

Day 1 of Animation Gets Real was a success! Dr. Clint Randles, Professor of Music Education & Co-Director of Contemporary Music at the University of South Florida School of Music, worked with students to record 3 types of sounds ranging from voice acting to foley (sound effects) and music. Students had the opportunity to record each individual sound based on just a 0:30 second clip. These types of fun and unique experiences develop public speaking and confidence. We love to see it! Movement + Cultural Arts: Students at Charlie DeLucca Park in the City of Miami recently explored caribbean carnival-themed dancing with A4L #TeachingArtist Ana Miranda. Recently, our Executive Director Sheila Womble cheered on the launch of Arts Access in South Dade. Arts Access Miami is a music and arts education coalition building initiative working to identify and mobilize arts and music organizations across whole communities. By collaborating with local schools, community centers, and artists, this initiative will ensure that the transformative power of the arts is accessible to children across South Dade. Join our dynamic team as a Site Manager for our arts-based afterschool program and summer program at Dr. Carlos J. Finlay Elementary School in City of Sweetwater! We are looking for an energetic and engaging individual who loves working with children and values creativity in education. The Site Manager will oversee the daily operations of our Afterschool & Summer Camp program, serving 90 students during the school year and 60 students during summer. This role requires excellent communication skills, teamwork, and a passion for fostering a vibrant learning environment. At South Pointe Elementary, #TeachingArtist Angel Condori curated a nature inspired exhibition for students by students! Third - Fifth graders worked on loom weaving, inspired by a previous project, while Kindergarten - Second grade students used underwater-themed stamps to create an aquatic mural in the cafeteria! Students also made compositions with flowers and sculptural butterflies, inspired by spring. This program was completed in partnership with the City of Miami Beach. #A4LMiami #Arts4Learning

During a recent residency at Madison Middle School, #TeachingArtist Ermol Sheppard’s class explored creative writing and photography to create zines and a collage mural. Students had a prompt to respond to with written words or images taken from instant cameras and magazine cutouts.
