This Monday, 4th March 2024, we woke up to more injuries, deaths, and loved ones holding onto the lifeless bodies of their children, feeling the agonizing helplessness. Three months into 2024, there seems to be nothing worthwhile celebrating. As we approach Ramadan, when our brothers and sisters are being killed by bombs and starvation, it's crucial to reflect on what is truly worth celebrating. In the context of workplace recognitions, celebrations, and awards, it's essential to consider how these events align with our values and humanity. Winning a trophy while choosing not to speak up for those who are suffering raises questions about the true meaning of success. How can we celebrate when we fail at the most basic aspect of being human—compassion and empathy for others?

I've spoken to 30+ employers in the last 90 days and the ONE skill-gap they've all identified is RESILIENCE. This week I delivered a workshop to a group of THE most resilient young people I've ever met as part of GoodWork's onboarding programme. Some were care leavers, homeless, victims of domestic violence and all from low income backgrounds. These young people have gone through SO much and are living and breathing examples of true resilience... Yet are locked out of certain industries because due to no fault of their own don't have a degree or A-Levels. Resilience is a skill that's taught from life experience's not grades Don't be that employer that throws the words social mobility and D&I around but isn't willing to actually do the work or make a change. The second quarter prize distribution celebration at our office was a truly remarkable experience. The event centered around recognition and appreciation, highlighting the value of hard work and dedication of the employees. Here are the key points that made the celebration so special: 1. Recognition and Appreciation: Hearing my name called out and receiving applause from colleagues and superiors for my contributions during the second quarter felt incredibly rewarding. The acknowledgment made me feel valued and motivated to continue giving my best. 2. Liberating Solution's Impact: I owe a significant part of my achievements to Liberating Solution. Their unwavering support, guidance, and innovative solutions have helped me overcome challenges and develop new skills, which played a crucial role in my personal and professional growth. 3. Positive Atmosphere: The celebration's atmosphere was electric, filled with cheers and camaraderie. It emphasized the importance of fostering a positive and inclusive work environment, where everyone's efforts are acknowledged and valued. 4. Motivation and Determination: The recognition received during the celebration has ignited a new sense of motivation and determination in me. I am more eager than ever to excel in my role and make a positive impact on the company's success. Overall, the second quarter prize distribution celebration was a memorable occasion that celebrated hard work, teamwork, and the power of support. It left me feeling inspired and grateful for the opportunities provided, and I look forward to achieving even greater heights in the future.

In my previous post, I asked you to take some time to celebrate yourself and your accomplishments over the past year. So often, we spend the holidays celebrating our colleagues and team members that we forget to do the same for ourselves. In that post, you had a few journal prompts to help you reflect & celebrate the past year of your life as CEO. Internal validation is crucial as a leader, as we don’t always receive validation from those around us. After all, when you’re a CEO there aren’t as many true peers compared to other employees. Start the year with New Year's resolutions - right or wrong? How many times did we make a list? But how often, if ever, do we follow through and make it happen?
