Employers continue to compete for a limited pool of workers as US Job Growth Accelerates Today's jobs report from the Labor Department shows the most substantial gain since January, with employers adding 336,000 jobs in September. The unemployment rate held steady at 3.8%, and employers raised pay at a solid pace as they competed for a limited pool of workers. Average hourly earnings rose 4.2% in September from a year earlier, down slightly from 4.3% in August. That was slower than last year but well above the pre-pandemic rate.

One person who lost his job due to a layoff and had not been employed for more than 6 months came to me and said, "I'm interested in the position that you are offering." Being unemployed for more than 6 months, I can understand how it feels and things become more difficult to manage expenses. So, without any issues, I recommended his CV and made sure he gets selected for the job. I also explained the work and salary budget before taking him to the first round of the selection process; he agreed to everything. I also discussed with HR and got a 30% hike on his last salary. After everything was done, that guy denied joining the company just because he used our offer letter to negotiate a higher salary with another company. Isn't it disappointing? By doing so, he might gain an advantage from another company, but as a candidate, he used the wrong practices. We received a verification call regarding our offer letter that we had given to the person. If I really wanted, I could have denied and said to the other company that this letter is false. But I didn't because I don't want him to keep growing. Today, I want to use this platform to advise you all that not all companies are the same; most companies can take revenge if you use such practices to enhance your salary at another company. I'm a kind person, but going forward, I'll remember this lesson that the candidate taught me and will reject their verification if such a thing comes across to me. #hr #job #hiring #freshershiring #openings #candidates

Where's the justice?? HR - Your last CTC was 10 LPA so, 12 LPA is the best we can offer. It's 20% hike. Candidate - I don't think it's fair for me, I have 4 year of experience and for same position you're offering 18 LPA to candidates. HR - We can't do anything, this is the market standard. Candidate - Thanks for your offer, but I can't take anything less than 18 LPA. Candidate rejects the offer, and another company appreciated his skillset and offered him 18 LPA as a candidate coming from a service based company. Dear Recruiters, please stop giving less salary to candidates just because their last CTC was less. Less CTC in their previous company doesn't mean they lack experience or skill set. We ask candidates to work on their skills but in return we don't pay them same as we pay a candidates in a product based company. Where's the justice??

These are some of the facts the US Chamber of Commerce shared recently regarding shifts in the labor force: ⚙️ Industries with a labor shortage include durable goods manufacturing, wholesale and retail trade, and education and health services. 📉 The manufacturing industry lost approximately 1.4 million jobs at the start of the pandemic and has since struggled to fill job vacancies. 🔍 As of March 2023, there were 693,000 open manufacturing jobs. 📊 These industries have more job openings than unemployed workers with experience. 🛠️ Even if all unemployed individuals with experience in durable goods manufacturing were employed, there would still be around 25% of vacant jobs. 🚧 Conversely, the construction industry has a labor surplus. 🏗️ There are more unemployed workers with experience in construction than there are open jobs. I uncover solutions that often elude experts and specialists, drawing from my adaptive generalist perspective enriched with insights and a broad knowledge base.
Blue Collar Jobs in High Demand! Blue-collar hiring and pay gains stay hot in a cooling job market Blue-collar workers in the U.S. labor market are in higher demand than “knowledge-based” white-collar professionals, economists say. Employment data indicates a higher unemployment rate for professional and business services workers and a lower one for people who work in manufacturing. The U.S. isn’t the only country experiencing the trend. Australia, Canada, and the U.K. are also struggling to fill roles like mechanics, nurses, and electricians. According to Indeed, nurses, mechanics, sales, customer service, and retail are among the most searched-for job resumes in the U.S. For jobs in software development and IT operations, Indeed data shows there are fewer postings now than there were before the pandemic. Job postings for manufacturing roles, however, are up a whopping 46%. On the other hand AI is truly disrupting the white collar job markets as some analyst jobs are now better done with new AI solutions. Blue-collar jobs are in demand because they are critical to industries like construction, manufacturing, transportation, and logistics, where AI cannot replace the hard working labor and talent input these professional tradespeople provide! The most sought-after blue-collar occupations are often skilled trades that demand technical expertise and training without needing a four-year degree. Yet, they boast the potential to earn six-figure incomes. These roles are characterized by high demand and promising prospects for future growth. https://lnkd.in/gJ5qmheT #workers #bluecollar #economy #HR #employment #markets #jobmarkets #jobs #technical #tradespeople #tradesmen #unemployment #workforce #hiring #demand

Hiring overqualified candidates can be a strategic advantage for organizations. These individuals possess a wealth of knowledge and experience, enabling them to quickly adapt and contribute to the team. Despite the potential short-term stay, their impact can be long-lasting, bringing lasting benefits to the organization's growth and success. Embracing such candidates demonstrates a commitment to fostering innovation and excellence within the company.

Candidates can’t be overqualified for a job. Either that person will work for the allotted salary or they won’t. The idea that companies would purposefully hire someone with less experience out of fear of them taking their job or leaving soon after is beyond shortsighted. The companies goal is to make money and you probably have a better chance of doing that with people who are more experienced, not less. You’d think common sense would eliminate this problem but here we are. #recruitment #hiringnow #jobs #overqualified
