Puls Biznesu published a case study featuring 7R Green Saver: “when low carbon pays off”. What are the key findings? 👉 The concept has met with great market interest. - In June, we commissioned the first building of this type in Kąty Wrocławskie and began construction of the second one in Przylesie. Each of them has been fully leased to global brands: 43k m2 of warehouse space to Yusen Logistics, and 13k m2 of production space to Eberspächer Group - says Michał Białas, Co-CEO of 7R. 👉 The tenants are increasingly taking action in the area of sustainability and they invest in green solutions. - We were looking for warehouse space at the highest level. Ecological solutions that allow us to take care of the environment are particularly important to us - confirms Marek Wieckowicz, Managing Director at Yusen Logistics. 👉 Both facilities have been designed to achieve BREEAM Outstanding which means meeting the highest standards in terms of sustainability. - The innovative solution in 7R Park Wrocław West II is an own batery storage unit, which will allow significant savings in the consumption of energy from non-renewable sources, thus reducing the carbon footprint. Heating is provided by highly energy-efficient heat pumps - explains Sławomir Dzięcioł, Senior Project Manager at Kajima Poland, the general contractor for the building.

I was reflecting on my time working as Masdar's sustainable supply chain manager during the construction of Masdar City Phase 1. It was indeed a groundbreaking project that aimed to create the world's most sustainable city. One of our biggest challenges was including embodied carbon emissions in our decision-making processes. With sustainability at the core of our mission, it was crucial that we not only minimise our embodied carbon footprint but also set a new standard for future developments. We implemented a key performance indicator focusing on reducing embodied carbon emissions to address this challenge. This KPI allowed us to track our progress and identify areas where we could further reduce our carbon impact. It wasn't easy, but we significantly reduced our embodied carbon emissions throughout construction with a dedicated team and a clear focus on design and our goals. I remember one particular instance where we had to choose between two suppliers for a crucial project component. One supplier offered a lower price, but their production methods resulted in significantly higher carbon emissions. The other supplier, while slightly more expensive, had a much lower carbon footprint. In the past, the decision may have been solely based on cost. Still, with our focus on sustainability, we prioritised choosing the supplier with lower carbon emissions, even if it meant a slightly higher upfront cost. This experience of incorporating carbon emissions into our decision-making processes fundamentally changed how I approached sustainability in my work. It wasn't just about meeting regulatory requirements or checking off boxes – it was about genuinely making a difference and leading by example. I saw firsthand the impact of conscious decision-making on reducing carbon emissions and creating a more sustainable city. Working on Masdar City wasn't just a job for me. It was a project that fueled my commitment to sustainability. Seeing the city come to life and knowing I played a role in shaping its sustainable future was incredibly rewarding. It wasn't always easy, and there were challenges along the way, but the result was worth every moment of hard work and dedication. As we navigate the challenges of climate change and the urgent need for action, my experience at Masdar has equipped me with the tools and mindset needed to make a difference. It's not just about meeting targets or hitting KPIs – it's about creating a better future for future generations. I'm grateful for the opportunity to have participated in such a groundbreaking project that set the standard for sustainable development. So, when I reflect on my time as Masdar's sustainable supply chain manager, I don't just see it as a job but as a defining moment in my career that has shaped my approach to sustainability and reducing carbon emissions. 😀 #SustainableSupplyChain #MasdarCityLegacy

At RH Privé, we lead the development of eco-friendly luxury homes on the Costa del Sol by defining and implementing a sustainability plan that is continuously reviewed and improved. It now includes areas integrated into the design and construction process of our projects such as: - Energy efficiency - Efficient water use - Ecosystem - Bioclimatic design - Material and resource management But our responsibility with the environment goes beyond our developments, as we understand that it all starts with the responsibility of companies and individuals. That's why we not only want to minimize our environmental footprint, but also to lead a positive change in the way we do business. This philosophy not only reflects our corporate responsibility, but also places us at the forefront of adopting sustainable business practices, contributing directly to our community. These include a zero-paper philosophy, recycling of materials, electric car fleet, art and community support, etc. All this both contributes and proves that luxury can also be sustainable and environmentally friendly.

Shifting from a take-make-waste to a circular economy is essential for a thriving future. Let's reimagine how we design and build, beginning with the reuse and renovation of existing spaces. The philosophy behind circular economy is simple: keep valuable raw materials in the cycle as long as possible, maintaining their value while minimizing waste and emissions. The three biggest areas contributing to boosting Denmark’s circularity is construction, lifestyle and transport, according to the Circularity Gap Report Denmark. So, what are the pathways to doubling their circularity? 🏘 The Danish construction sector downcycles tonnes of demolition waste, with its value lost in the process. If the country creates an effective market for secondary materials and limits the use of virgin resources, its built environment can become more circular. In addition, Denmark could shift to local, sustainably-sourced materials like wood and promote co-housing and multifunctional buildings. 🧘♀️Denmark’s residents have the power to combat overconsumption of consumer goods like clothes and electronics and the emissions linked to it by doing more with less—repairing what breaks, sharing what can be shared and reusing. 🚗In a circular system, public transport, bicycles and walking are prioritised and car use is optimised through electrification and sharing models. The transport system’s footprints can also be diminished through reducing the need for travel, for example, by promoting working from home.
