CLARIFICATION for those congratulating me about the award in the posted photo... you are 35 years late. Please look at it more closely. Good thing most of us don't do inspection! 😁 Thanks anyway.
For my fellow QA/RA professionals, heads up! Shark in the pool (workforce skilled labor pool, that is)! I have just completed work on a great regulatory project that lasted one full year (to the day). Time to look toward my next professional adventure (again). I actually had one college professor (and pal) who said he collected my business cards like baseball cards... because, according to him, I had worked with more great organizations than anybody else he knew (Richard Gunther). That's probably true... and I have loved every moment of it. But... before I move forward, I do like to reflect on the past just a little bit. In doing so today, I stumbled upon this item in my professional archives. Yeah... it 'dates' me, but I like to think I've aged like fine wine. ;) It was amazing to see this image and realize how long I was a leader for the American Society for Quality (the 'American Society for Quality Control', at the time of this award). Lots more ASQ leadership roles came after this one. Working with the local ASQ Section was the most wonderful way to build my skills as a manager and as a leader. I was with happily willing and kind mentors, gentle giants, like-minded souls, my 'tribe'. Most were very senior to me (at the time... which would not be true these days). As a volunteer, I couldn't actually be 'fired', so I was free (and encouraged) to experiment and, sometimes, fail gloriously. My colleagues would pick me up, dust me off, and ALWAYS insist I get back in the ring and keep punching. It was the PERFECT learning environment! Thank you, to San Fernando Valley Section of ASQ, for helping me hone my professional skills for more than three decades.
