In celebration of the upcoming 2024 National Low-Carbon Day, the Chongqing Ecology and Environment Bureau has announced the launch of the "Carbon Hui Tong" platform, where citizens can use "carbon credits" to directly exchange for public transit vouchers worth millions. This marks the first time that the public can participate in a green commuting carbon incentive loop. In 2024, the "Carbon Hui Tong" platform will integrate directly with the public transit data, allowing citizens to scan a QR code or link their transit card through a mini-program to ride the bus. The platform quantifies their emission reduction efforts and rewards them with carbon credits. Calculations show that each bus ride reduces carbon emissions by approximately 120g, earning users 1.1 carbon credits. With every 20 credits accumulated on the platform, users can exchange for a public transit voucher valued at 2 yuan, which will automatically deduct when scanning the QR code to ride the bus.
