What’s my WHY⁉️ In 2018 I volunteered at a Veterans homeless Stand Down, and ran into a person I was stationed with 12 years earlier…unfortunately they were enrolled in HUDVASH and weren’t one of the other volunteers.
1️⃣ Did you know that veterans pursuing on-the-job training or apprenticeships may be eligible for additional GI Bill benefits, including monthly housing 💰 allowance (on top of your hourly wages from your employer) and a 💵 stipend for books 📙 and supplies ✏️. The 🏠 housing allowance is paid at a rate that decreases over time as your hourly apprenticeship wages increase. 👉🏾 U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs GI Bill benefits for Apprenticeships or OJT. Our attendance at the U.S. Department of Labor Employment Training Administration's #ETA2030 Vision Convening was not only inspiring but also incredibly timely. As ACS's president Nicholas Morgan spent the last few days collaborating with DOL officials and workforce system partners, the need for our specialized services has never been more pronounced. With the unprecedented demand for apprenticeships in light of the growth in energy infrastructure, we continue to gain insights and connections throughout the workforce system. We are at the cusp of a transformative period in America's labor market, and the resilience of our energy grid depends on the skilled workers who will drive it. We are eager to work alongside our partners, clients, and the DOL to invest in America's workforce, fostering equity, innovation, and sustainable growth. Join us as we embark on this journey, contributing to a resilient, competitive, and inclusive labor market. Together, we will make a lasting impact. #ETA2030 #InvestInAmerica #WorkforceDevelopment #Apprenticeships #CleanEnergy #ACS #dol
I was privileged to have been a part of the U.S. Department of Labor Employment and Training Administration's #ETA2030 Vision Convening, where I was reunited with my old friend Scottie LeBlanc. We first crossed paths 24 years ago when he recruited me to join the U.S. Army. Now, our shared journey continues as we both strive to create opportunities for veterans and underserved populations. Scottie's leadership as Vice President of Mission Services at Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Louisiana brings a unique perspective to the conference. His insights and practical ideas, shaped by years of dedicated work, contributed significantly to our discussions on expanding opportunities for marginalized communities. He shared innovative strategies that we hope to duplicate as Adaptive Construction Solutions expands #apprenticeships across the nation. #ETA2030 #InvestInAmerica #WorkforceDevelopment #Veterans #Apprenticeships #Goodwill #InflationReductionAct

Not everybody NEEDS to go to college! Not everybody WANTS to go to college! When doing 1️⃣ on 1️⃣ transition counseling and teaching classes, I’ll often bring up U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs “On-the-job training and apprenticeships.” This is always a great conversation with people who are looking at alternative ways to gain employment or fill in the GAP (other than using education or certs) OR gaining experience with the education and certs they already have. There are A LOT of great programs. WEAMS is a great tool that will help narrow down your search for an OJT / Apprenticeship that is approved through Post 9/11. 1️⃣ Go to the WEAMS website 2️⃣ Select program type 3️⃣ Select your state 4️⃣ Select institution name 5️⃣ Select program *type* / description This will give you a breakdown of the opportunities they’ve been approved for. The Comparison Tool is also great to utilize. AND!!! The Emerging Technology Apprenticeship Program is proud to participate in Day 5 of National Apprenticeship Week, with the theme being ‘Public Service Apprenticeship and Veterans in Apprenticeship.’ 19% of ETA applicants are military veterans. Veterans possess transferable skills and experiences gained during their military service, making them valuable candidates for employment with businesses and public entities in critical infrastructure sectors. Apprenticeships help veterans transition to civilian employment by providing upskilling in emerging technologies in areas where their current military skills align, such as with IT, logistics, or project planning. The dedication of veterans to our country and the crucial role public service workers play in the functioning of government and private sector critical infrastructure does not go unnoticed by ETA. #NAW2023 #ApprenticeshipUSA

#Normalize letting high school graduates make their OWN #career building future choices. Support them as best you can on THEIR path -- and give them the room to fail a few times like we did. Learning and growth include failures along the way. #Apprenticeship, #tradeschool, #communitycollege, #university, #military, #entrepreneurship and going straight into the #workforce are all great #options for some high school graduates -- and not so much for others. No forced choice is a good option for anyone. Graduates should have the room to follow their #passion, not #societalpressure.
