How do companies build a positive work culture? INTEGRIS Health CEO Timothy Pehrson says company values also set the expectations for the company’s culture. “A company culture, good or bad, will just happen unless leaders are intentional,” he said. “Strong cultures have leaders who have an intentional focus on creating a good culture.” INTEGRIS focuses on six elements to have an intentional culture: Create a clear mission for why the organization exists; lay out a clear vision and values; understand organizational competencies and the operating model for organizing success, and create a continuous improvement system or methodology to drive a culture of improvement. "You’ve got to have the policies and the processes in place, but that’s just one leg. If you have a structure in place, and it’s not being lived at the unit level, it’s a problem," she shared. "That’s where leadership comes in as that second leg. When searching for needs for some upcoming weddings, Jenae Goodin, PMP, founder of Big Ass Bag, found herself surfing the web with 20 different tabs open, trying to comparison shop while getting annoyed at having to flip back and forth. ⁠ ⁠ Her concept to solve her frustration was simple: Create an app that allows consumers to put all their items from various stores into one virtual bag, allowing customers to crosscheck prices, delete unwanted items and check out one time from multiple stores.
