In continuation of the earlier post on COG ( https://lnkd.in/g3J9M_GB ). Cloud Optimized GeoTIFF (COG) is a regular GeoTIFF file with an internal organization that enables more efficient workflows in the cloud. If you don’t get COG from data provider , your can use open source GDAL CLI to do the honours. Further, COGs support HTTP range requests, which allows users to access only the portion of data in a raster file that they need, rather than downloading the entire file. (Remember ‘lseek’ argument in reading binary files in ‘C’ language) Displaying image on webpage is tricky for large images of Gbs and Tbs of size. Open layers /leaflet map viewer are useful . COGs enable efficient streaming of data, which opens up the possibility of fully cloud-based geospatial workflows. It addresses the potential issue of data duplication, as cloud workflows can access single COG files online instead of needing to copy and cache the data on local computers / servers. #COG #cloud #datastreaming #datadisplay

TBC 2023.10 Advanced Filtering enhancement. This video highlights the new “Advanced Filtering” command available within the Point Cloud tab in TBC 2023.10 and later. Use the Advanced Point Cloud Filtering command to filter a point cloud by extracting a new region based on the detected point elevations within rectangular sampling cells of a specified size applied across the point cloud. This is primarily helpful when trying to create a separate point cloud region for bare ground that does not include low-lying grass and other vegetation, but instead includes only the lowest points in the cloud, at ground level. Optionally, apply the advanced filter to a subset of points in the selected point cloud by specifying a polyline along with horizontal/vertical offsets to shorten processing time and generate more focused, cleaner output. #tbc #trimblegeospatial #trimble
