P U E R T O D E A L I C A N T E Concept proposal for a new congress centre for the city of Alicante consisting of: 15115 m2 - congress centre (auditorium, exhibition, restaurant, parking, circulation and all services) 3925 m2- office building The aim of the proposed development and its architectural features is to promote the rehabilitation of the port area, with the objective of converting previously maritime orientated industrial structures into community driven spaces igniting the connection of Alicante to its inhabitants and guests whilst simultaneously incorporating current architectural advances to ensure long term sustainability. Our proposed concept is a contemporary interpretation of a deconstructed stone fortress that sits as purposefully placed fragmented stone panels in the constructs of the piers. Our primary focus throughout the planning process was to maximize the flow, participation, connection, and community of human interaction with the development. We maximized the use of #wood for construction and decoration in collaboration with our Architectural partner.
