My life as a full-time student officially started more than a month ago, and I can say it has been really challenging. I have articles to read and online assignments to complete every week. Some assignments, such as this poster, took me two weeks to complete. Here, I want to share some lessons I've learned from my life here in Melbourne as a full-time master's student.
Be wise about Assignment
I had a rough transition from the role of assignment recipient to assignment doer. I finally realised that doing assignments is not easy! (I now understand you, my students). My tutor here provided me with crystal clear instructions, yet I was still struggling in the corner and asking myself: where should I start? Thanks to Monash Education for offering such significant and consistent help for new students. This reminds me to be wise: wise in completing assignments and wise in giving assignments (when I become the one giving them after I graduate).
Learning from the Younger Generation
I must admit that I am still quite young, but I feel outpaced in the academic world. Even after working for seven years before this, I still have a lot to learn. During my one-month learning journey, I discovered that learning from the younger generation is very rewarding. Their insights and pace make me wonder... why didn't I think about that? I enjoyed every discussion I had with them while completing my assignments. I consider myself lucky. For sure, I will continue learning from them.
What's next?
Well, I still have a long way to go. I can confidently say that I am enjoying my current learning journey so far.
