- You may be watching this course because someone asked you write an article for their website, newsletter, journal, or magazine. Great, you've got yourself an assignment and a place to publish it, but if you've got an article in mind that you want to write and aren't sure who might publish it, then you're going to have to pitch it. Pitching an article means offering it up to a publisher to see if they're interested in using it or like the word implies, metaphorically tossing it out there to see if anyone swings at it. Before you pitch, you'll need to do some research to find outlets that publish articles like yours with readers who will be interested in your content. For example, if you've got access to someone, say, who was once in a famous rock band and they've agreed to let you interview them, you want to research magazines and websites for and about musicians, rock music, celebrity stories, et cetera.
