- In this movie, I'm going to look at full page ads. While it is just one approach among many, some of the most successful ads are really simple. Though of course the designers worked hard to make them so simple. The focal point of the ad is an engaging product shot. There are no lengthy explanations, or wordy passages extolling the benefits of the product. The picture speaks for itself. Anything more that needs to be said can be found on the website. A link to which is clearly shown. The type is legible and surrounded by generous white space. This minimalist approach has its roots in the object posters of the early 20th century, and was later adopted by the likes of Volkswagen, Coca-Cola, and more recently by Apple. For my example, I'm selling designer Wellington boots. The logo type is in a didone type face; Ratio Modern. It conveys affluence and elegance.
